Anyone know any tips, online videos to give me some help with the aerial vehicles, jets and choppers, i had the same problem in bad company 2, i'd love to be able to fly them smoothly but i crash in no time using the keyboard, do u have to use a combination of wasd, arrow keys and the mouse ? plus then u have to shoot the enemy, its all 2 much

Easiest way is to jump on a practice server (type practice in server list and jump in one) as most have no min player limit, so you can go on empty ones without someone trying to shoot you down.

Only use the WASD keys.

Tip about the choppers, only use the mouse to tip the nose up or down, moving it sideways is asking for trouble if you're a noob.

Also.. Every movement on the mouse affects your chopper A LOT, so go slowly and try getting on some practice servers.

I'm all about the 360 pad for jets. I freaked the config so now I can switch views by clicking the thumbstick (very handy when you lose site of target) and I'm getting decent now. Still get my ass handed to me, but sometimes I'm the one handing out asses!

i remember the first time i got in a jet on the beta I crashed on take off. then later i got in a helicopter and crashed it and killed my teammate within 3 seconds lol, the chat read "if you can't fly dont get in the chopper noob!" haha, i just find it funny, how are you supposed to learn if you don't try.

Now I'm an accomplished jet pilot, i can usually dominate the skies and kill plenty of soliders on the ground and get disabled vehicles with the laser guided missiles, I know they suck but i enjoy dropping them and when you get a soflam it's great.

I haven't manged to get used to the rocket pods or the chopper rocket pods either. It seems they dont seem to land where you fire them, anyone got any advice.

Also occasionally i come up against a better dog fighter than me and i can't seem to evade or turn as tight as him. Again any advice on tactics would be appreciated.

Rocket pods are noob but very affective, basically they home in on choppers and armor, just shoot in the direction of enmey and and they will seek them out automatically, precise aiming on target is not needed and they work from across the map.

Jet fighting is down to who can air brake the best and turn tightest, the sweet zone for braking and tightest turns is from 260-280 Kph. Use air radar to keep track of enemy jets, this is an essential upgrade for dog fighters.

The rocket pods don't home, they're unguided.

Hitting vehicles with the pods on a flat attack run is easy enough when you get used to how far ahead you need to lead them, and you should usually be able to disable a tank in one run if you land enough hits.

When you've lined up your attack run sometimes it can help to slam on the airbrake to give you a bit more time to fire and maybe switch to the cannon afterwards. It makes you slow and vulnerable though, so only do it if you're relatively safe.

I think the guided missiles are pretty useless though, I've had a lot more success with the pods.

lol unguided, we playing the same game?

They work the same as chopper guided rockets, how can I hit a moving tank with 10+ pods from across the map if they are not guided in someway.

Yup. Go read the Battlelog description, they're "A set of unguided FFAR rockets", and I've never noticed them homing before.

Sure you're not thinking of the rocket pods in the chopper when you've got the Guided Rocket unlock? You can't get that for the jets.

EDIT: Yeah, your edit is where we're getting confused here, Jets don't get the guided rockets unlock for the pods.

I need tips on how best to break the constant circling that can occur during dogfights. I'm pretty good at turning but there's still the odd pilot that manages to break the circling which allows them to have a few seconds to come at me head-on. They don't out-turn me but pull some manoeuvre.

You still got to aim near the target as with chopper guided rocket pods, but they still hit even when spamming them from across the map. What? you think you just get that amazing accuracy with amazing aiming skills that can predict the enemies movement from across the map.

The latest patch made the player minimum 4 on all servers so this is no longer possible. Tried this morning and found this out :(

Again:

We've obviously had different experiences with them so the only thing to go by is the Battlelog description. I've not spotted any homing in videos of it either and generally I don't spam them from across the map.
