Who has died near you?

So found this on the BBC today....

Basically, you can look up who has died on the road in the last 11 years, and once you select a particular accident you can see who was involved and stuff!

An old lady pedestrian was hit by an LGV and creamed in 2004 on the junction at the end of my road - before I lived there. It's a main road intersecting with a fairly main road and there's been nothing actually on the road I live on. Surprising really given the weight of traffic.

That is quite shocking.. Puts air and rail safety into perspective.

Also illustrates just how the roads are treated with disregard.

Yeah I've noticed that near me. Also a lot of young drivers with young passengers. One says 16 year old driver as well.

Pretty suprised that by the schools where I went to, no-one of school age died. The two different schools had deaths near, both over 70.

Though where I live now, the school had a boy aged 7 die in 2002.. a bit sad really to think that he wouldnt even be 18 yet

I remember almost all of the ones near me. Especially the one where a 17 and 18 yr old died

Two car accident near me, which killed a 14 year old girl and injured 19 others.

Sad really. I know the Brother of said girl.

And my sisters 17 year old best friend. In a hit and run accident. Driver only got 18 months, and the poor girl didn't even make it..

One on a road near me was a lad I knew, he was a taxi driver and ran over a man lying in the road. Also a cyclist on a dual carriage-way near me, I used to cycle at the same time (2000) but I took a different route.

A 77 year old woman died near enough right outside my house, I remember it happening (Didn't see it). She walked out in front of a bus. In 2005

Same! Around me there have been very few, but they are all teenagers and old people. Same around my folks'.

Got a little hotspot near me notorious for crashes. Always flowers there from Previous accidents and also now a commemorative bench.

Last lot were 20 year old bloke and bird.

I guess people just speed through it cos its on a slight dip, down hill and curve, cross into each others lanes and ... crunch.

this is one that sticks out in my mind the most - caused by a known reckless driver and everyone who knew him said it would only be a matter of time before he caused something like this.
