Mugen CR-Z.. The future of Hybrid Performance?

tax dodging, economical hot hatch getting close to 200 BHP per ton

sort... of... want

Be interesting to see if the 197 bhp version is actually 23k or the 178bhp is 23K and the 197bjp is closer to 27k.

If they need help getting second hand stock like Renault did with their 200's, I'd be tempted :D

Spoiler looks stupid. Exhaust looks stupid.

I think it's a funky looking car though and should be a right laugh to drive.

This is available in 8 Honda garages at the moment, you buy a new CRZ in whichever spec you want then you pay the dealer about £4800 and they fit the supercharger, inter-cooler, mugen front splitter and some other dohickery.

It doesn't include things like the 4pot brakes, suspension or exhaust.

Which Honda garages?

Also would that include the carbon hood, carbon doors and extra mugen gauges?

Typical :p

Definately nothing Carbon,

The design study/concept prototype was more to gauge intrest than respresent the production item.

a lot of the feedback for the original FN2 Civic RR and how expensive it would be is why the Mugen 200 one in the showroom was much watered down to keep the price at an appropriate level for the product. Same lessen has been applied to the CRZ where its main critism of lack of power has been addressed.

right this is taken from type-r-owners.co.uk

"Just to let you know what the deal is with our new CR-Z with (what we call) iCF.
The initial batch of upgrades will only be available at the 8 Honda UK dealers who are also Mugen retailer, who are (as correctly posted by Shanei):

Avonvale Honda, Northampton
Bristol Honda, Bristol
Donnelly & Taggart, County Antrim
Ewens of Cornhill, Banff
Hendy Performance, Southampton
Phoenix Honda, Paisley
Springfield Honda, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Two Mills Honda, South Wirral

A few of them (currently Ewens, Phoenix, Springfield) will have pre-production demonstrators in December. Orders can be taken at any time for delivery in March on a first come first served basis.

The iCF will only be available as an option with new car sales (sorry no post-fit kits at this time) and the price, including installation at Mugen Euro, will be £4985 + VAT.
This includes the compressor, intercooler, airbox and Mugen front grille. To get a final price simply choose your model of CR-Z, add any other options you want (plus of course the iCF).
Hopefully that answers the bulk of the questions and clears up a bit of speculation."

watch the review on fifth gear, proper car people reviewing cars. Top gear has gone to cinematical (is that even a word) .

I quite like the car just dont like the price:)

It just seems a bit much really, with aftermarket stuff on a good ol' K20 for 5k you can get a lot of power out of them with either turbo or supercharging.

TDI North - a very trusted honda tuner in warrington does a 'street turbo kit' starting at £2500 which takes the Civic's engine from 200 to 250bhp, throw another $1500 quid at it for exhaust, breathing mods etc and you should be pushing 300+bhp.

for £5500 they'll do their race turbo which is about 425bhp!

I know thats missing the point somewhat of the CRZ but mugen's prices are just sooooo steep compared to aftermarket tuners.

Thats the price of the warranty I guess :o

Plus no one has really pushed the L15 other than Bisimoto whereas the K20 has had years of support and subequent volume has made the parts cheap.
