a human says it's humane?

what would the animal say if it could?

what would the human say if it was the animal saying, your going to die but it's alright, it'll be humane?

I was being sarcasric regarding another thread, but lets imagine this - If humans were wiped out for whatever reason, would it be humane for another species to bring us back to existence via cloning?

I won't back down, this is what i'm getting at, Mankind thinking it's all that and playing god with other animals that live here, christ, the animals have been on earth longer than man,

what makes mankind so special? we chop things down, we blow things up, we kill in the name of science, experimentation, and god knows what else......

Our exceptional intelligence compared to nearly everything else that lives on planet earth.....although it will probably also be our downfall.

Great, I know for a fact my gf will want mega expensive Wooly Mammoth Uggs for Christmas in 5 yrs time

And stick us in a cage for it's species to gawp at? The past should stay the past, they died out because they could not live in the world that they existed in.

Thing is where do you draw the line? Not all animals are 'humane' - for example cats will often play with their food (and often don't eat it).

Where is the line between "It's ok as this is what mother nature intended" and "This is inhumane"?

Difficult to call, you could argue it's all ok as 'mother nature' created us all as we are......

So should humans abandon their current protection schemes for endangered species and simply leave them to get wiped out?

Even your ranting is an example of what makes mankind so special. We didn't get to the top of the food chain by chance, it's due to our intelligence, communication, problem solving abilities and tool usage allowing us to adapt to any situation and environment.

Opposable thumbs.....true story.

Wouldnt it be basically a hybrid anyway, not a full clone as they will use DNA from our Elephants to fill in parts of the DNA?

It's not like dinosaurs where we're separated by 65million years. Mammoths existed only a few thousand years ago and we have entire bodies preserved in ice available to us, we have the complete DNA

So long as the Giants don't send me into the sky when I try and stroke them then that's fine....

It would be an incredible feat of science if we do actually manage to clone them though!
