I've got a test today. But feel a bit fuzzy, mentally like. What do people recommend for a mental pick me up? Red Bull? Bananas? Coffee? Lucozade? Bacon sandwich??

I need to get alert and quick!

I like 2 sugars, 2 coffees (I have to have decaffe though which doesnt work), and 2 cocoas in boiling water + milk.

Its ultra nommy. Measurements in teaspoons per a normal coffee mug.

A mental pick me up? Just have a balanced diet with plenty of fluids you terrible man baby.

"Oh but magnolia!" you whine, "I want sugar or I don't even know!"

"NO."

"But my TEST wah wah wah!"

"Balanced diet."

"You suck!"

"Counterpoint : I eat well and don't have a test today."

I'd also like to add that on top of a balanced diet, getting enough sleep is a good idea.

Oh back when I was at uni I needed to drink two cans of red bull to be able to get any work done.

I completely lacked concentration without it.

Well I don't have a balanced diet and I didn't get enough sleep. My housemate has the heating on force factor 8 million so I woke up in a pool of sweat.

Water, preferably away from meals, is about your best bet right now. Other things like B-complex or fish oil will need a little while to kick in.

Are you hungover or tired? What's the test on, out of interest? :)

Not hungover. Just notice some days I feel on fire, other days like my brain is drenched in mud.

It's actually my driving theory test. I'm quite confident - just want to be at my best.

Dieticians everywhere are mocking you and hoping you don't end up in their ward.

I wouldn't believe some of the rubbish that comes out of the dietitians I know, Thats for sure! They are most certainly not on a balanced diet!

False. My nutrition lecturer said that while my diet was terrible, there was nothing wrong with it if I only did it while at uni. Otherwise just about everysingle student in the country would end up in a dieticians ward, or dead.

6x double vodkas and red bull on a night out x 3 - 4 nights a week plus nothing but bugers, pizzas and kebabs for food ... You would be surprised what students live through.

Plenty of water, a banana, carbs, and a bit of backbone and you'll be fine :)

They don't always follow their own advice, no.

I was a student so you're preaching to the converted (or maybe I was, I'm not sure anymore).

My point was that you didn't "need" Red Bull, you just liked it, and it's pretty terrible for you in almost every way. Anyway, you're not dead or on a SIP or enteral feed so that's good, I guess.
