The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

I've a quick question, wonder if anyone can help. I've made a bit of a silly mistake....D

Basically I bought the house in Whiterun done it all up and that and stored loads of stuff there, including the key to the door which I've not needed till now.....lol

Joined the Stormcloaks and attacked Whiterun etc and now Breezehome is locked, of course the bloody key is in the house haha

I thought about going back to a previous save but the only one I have is about 4 levels down so I am reluctant to loose a good few hours plays?

Is there anything I can do or shall I just forget it and move on....

:D

you could always open console, click on the door and type unlock, go in get your key, come out and do the same but type lock on the door :)

I'm a bit sad that I've gone Mage, destruction seems pretty rubbish, I'm forever running out of mana, I can be killed very easily and the spells just aren't that strong. Against strong mobs I just have to distract them whilst I slowly chip away with firebolts.

Might start levelling swords up and put some armour on.

Sorry if this has already been discussed but this thread is huge.

Im only level 4 and have not got very far, but Im finding most things very easy to kill. Does it get harder? I hate to compare but kind of morrowind style is what I'm looking for.

Fire and Summon are unstoppable. Level 18, zero armour and every point in magic and walking the game.

I'm about 36 hours and level 26, but I have to admit I've lot a lot of smithing as I'm struggling to stay alive. I've made about 100 daggers just to get my smithing to level 66 so I can upgrade my weapons and armour to decent-ish level.

can anyone give me some tips for an imperial to get some decent weapons? The Knevel guy is kicking my ass - feels like it'll be hours and hours before I'm powerful enough to take him down

Im lvl 31, play time 81 hours. Im making epic upgrades to my weapons and armour, ive never spammed the making of daggers. Cant see why anyone would want to ruin the game by spamming daggers.

Im welding two handed swords, i dont pay too much attention to what i put my points into (D&D was the last time i had to work things out 10 levels in advance) and i have about 13 unused dragon souls. I only found two mobs, apart from dragons, that take more than 5 hits and Im playing on one level down from the hardest.

Its a very easy game, but im still enjoying it. Im always hoping there will be a decent challenge around the corner.

I was thinking of making a summoner (druid) type build, spamming raise dead/familiar/summons staffs. Can you use more than one summon staff at once?

Skyrim is no Morrowind. In fact the more i play Skyrim the more i want to get back into Morrowind, using the overhaul mod its still a fantastic game.

This is where I'm going wrong. I just don't think I know properly what I'm doing yet, especially when it comes to knowing how and where to get/make the good stuff. I've got a few dragon souls too - what are they for? I'm on medium skill and finding the game very tough. Blood Dragons aren't so bad. I just shoot arrows, run, use a potions, shout, another arrow and then finish him off with a great sword. Anything else I'm finding really tough, even falmers.

EDIT: Nevermind, now I remember what the souls are for. Too bad I only have 3 shout words so far lmao.

Am I reading this right, there are different difficulty levels? I don't remember seeing them in any menu.

Yeah, there are 5 IIRC

5 Levels of Difficulty. To be honest, I'm on medium, and am dual wielding daedric swords. Standard dragons are so easy it's a joke. But I got completely butchered by an elder dragon yesterday... Had to resort to hiding behind a rock, dragonrending it, and spewing fire balls at it....

Walking around with the highest mitigation armour in the game at level 5 is kind of meta gaming yourself out of the levelling experience. Not to mention having the highest dps weapons from the start. Level caps need to be in place on crafting and gains from enchanting.

Mage becomes strong, done the main quest on hardest setting without to much problem

raise hp when you level NOT magic, you will thank me later :)

True, but artificially creating daggers is nowhere near as bad as some people who are console increasing their carry weight...

To be honest, I got to about level 80-90 off of Dwarven stuff that I found lying around in Dwarven ruins. I spent an hour once collecting all the dwarven stuff. Doing that I don't see what the problem is by raising my smithing like that. I'm putting in the work to get the stuff. It's just a shame that you can spam it with daggers...

I'm pure mage, run out ofmana often and seem to be pretty weak in damage - especially hearing all these stories of people 1-shotting dragons with bows and running around in invincible armour. I'm quite glad, actually - means there's still challenge in the game, which a lot of people seem to have twinked their characters beyond. Very glad I went for the more challenging option :).

So really what you're saying, that because I have crap armour and weapond at 36 hours in, I'm actually playing it correctly? :D

Please though, could anyone give me some tips for finding/gettin good weapons? Potions/enchantments to make etc?

i started mage but rapdily discovered how inferior it is.

Now I'm some crazy hybrid. light armour + one handed with increased sneek etc.

don't have enough mana for much but 5 lots of fast heal might raise it so it's more effective but The best mage stuff is in staffs anyway.

Staff of paralysis and Staff of chain lightning is best way to defend a mob if you're not prepared.
