I did not put my mobo oon my sig because its asrock and im ashamed! But i was looking at something a tad better than this 7300, which isnt hard....when i made this box 3 years back or so, the only reason i used it was the limited budget, and literally it just meant not using ram on shared gfx, but now i wouldn't mind something at least slightly better ... this card is pathetic

The new cards, i was mainly looking at nvidia just because i used to use them more often, and this mobo has nvidia chipset , would you reccomend i buy maybe just a 8800 gtx 9xxx gtx? or maybe a newer one , but lower end ...*i allways thought a little older higher end ican be better*

Also little things like popular brands of card, which are this or which are that, bad good ect , just general guidelines, any advice will be used wisely :) cheers

What budget? even though your PC is dated, a GTX 460 is still going to offer good value. You could buy something £30 cheaper that's nowhere near as good.

Refurb 9800GT will rock your world after the 7300

If you were going to spend £100+ on a GPU I recommend you look at upgrading the rest of your system to match.

Are there any specific games you have in mind?

What resolution do you game at?

+1

The 9800GT is a massive step up from a 7300 and will happily accelerate HD video (taking the strain off your CPU). It may not be the most powerful card any more, but at £38 it is fantastic value - even though it only comes with a 1 year warranty. (Also, can I confirm that your board has PCI-E slots - as there was an AGP version of the 7300 I believe). A more modern card with similar performance would be a HD 6670 or HD 6750 - but these cards cost a lot more.

As decto says, if you want to spend any more than this then I would look towards spending it on the CPU/mobo/RAM as for many modern games an AMD Athlon64 X2 CPU will bottleneck performance with any card better than a 9800GT.
