A cloned Mammoth would be nothing like the real thing. It would be an Elephant in a Mammoth body. Without a single member of it's species around to teach it how to be a Mammoth it will never behave like one. It will take on the mental and social characteristics that it's host family will teach it.

Same with humans, if we all die out and an alien civilisation clones one of us, they will have no concept of tens of thousands of years of cultural intelligence humanity has acquired. They won't even know what the sun is.

how do you know that? untill its done, you cant say..

im all for bring it back.. they've already brought back some animals in canada that got wiped out in the area..

That was re-introducing locally extinct species, the wolves still had other wolves to teach them what it meant to be a wolf. The Mammoth will be like the whale in hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy.

it will spend most of its time eating, what wont it get? i cant see it having a problem..

think of it as being reborn, who are we to say it cant have another chance at life if we wiped them out in the first place
