its about time we had some winter snow and bit of a freeze

i just hope to god it snows in chester

Outbreaks of sleet and snow will continue to spread inland across Scotland tonight, though mainly falling as rain in the west. Snow will be heavy in places, particularly over higher ground, with 5-10cm of fresh snow in places, which may lead to travel disruption. Skies will clear across central and southern Scotland for a time overnight, which will lead to some icy stretches on untreated surfaces as temperatures fall close to freezing.

White Sauce

obviously i hope nobody gets hurt

What? So, most of us will get a bit of rain whilst a few folk who live in the hills will get an inch or two of snow and some roads might be a little bit icy?

Where exactly is the significant storm?

Are you applying to be a headline writer for the Daily Mail?

I got my hopes up every night this week as its started to really blow a blizzard, nice heavy thick snow settling and everything but then it stops, commence the rain and by by snow! :(
This was the other night, shame it did not last.

Bumping this as it looks extremely serious for large parts of scotland and nrothern England.

one of the most powerful storms that can be experienced in this part of the world.

Wind speeds could gust over 90MPH (130MP on high ground). Make no mistake, this will be a damaging storm and potentially life threatening for people in exposed places. These kinds of storms have often cost lives.

The MetOffice have given a severe weather warning, infact it is more than a warning but an instruction to take action (very rare from the METO).

Exactly. Last year was an exception, but the most you'll usually get is a thin layer of icing like you get on a cake, and never sticks. Last time I've seen major snow i.e. 6"+ was early 1996.

i feel for those up north and hope its not to bad. in the south, a inch falls and we all grind to a halt. lol. can't wait, working from home here i come ;
