i read yesterday about a flat that was burgled in nuneaton. the burglars ransacked the place but there was nothing worth taking, so they put a 10 week old kitten in the microwave. the owner found it frazzled. seriously? what is going on with this country and it's cruel acts to animals!

Not read the thread, too long.

But all the people blabbing about snakes being fed live food, it's actually illegal in this country, UNLESS you have tried every other resort to get the snake feeding, if it still doesn't feed, live food can be tried from what I remember.

There is no inherent extra cruelty or lack of compassion involved by putting christmas music on or putting a hat on it because the kitten doesn't understand what they mean.

The kitten doesn't have to understand compassion to receive compassion. Compassion is something that is outwardly evident. To deal with a dead body compassionately would be to treat it with respect, but the dead body won't understand compassion because it's a dead body. The people around it would.

You are correct, however there is no obligation for someone to show compassion to the rest of the human population though, especially with regards to ones own property.

The same could be said with violent or pornographic movies. It's not very compassionate to the people who don't like violent or pornographic movies but these movies are still made.

If something illegal is going on then this is a separate issue and should be dealt with by the law. If there is nothing illegal going on then you can simply choose not to watch it if you don't like or agree with it.

Has it been established in this case whether or not it was illegal? I am not really familiar with animal cruelty laws.

what do you reckon?!

Well from what I gather from The Sun's sensationalist news reporting, he has not been caught yet.

The quote from the article states:

"He faces six months' jail and a £20,000 fine for causing unnecessary suffering under the Animal Welfare Act 2006."

This is very likely to be the maximum punishment. When the lawyers and judge get involved who knows what will happen.

The answer to my own question based upon the findings so far is that it has not been established that anything illegal was going on, because he has not been caught and convicted of anything yet, unless someone wants to correct me on this?

so it is illegal :)

Interesting theory, it's only illegal if you get caught

The "live feeding" part is definitely illegal I think, and there is irrefutable proof of that. Not sure what the punishment for that is though. The "unnecessary suffering" part is a grey area until it goes to court I think and that is where The Sun's sensationalism kicks in.

I would be genuinely interested to see what happens. I think a punishment is appropriate but I can't see him going to jail over it. Aren't all the jails full anyway after the lootings a few months back?

That's not quite what I'm getting at.

An example would be that he could produce a doctor's note from his snake's doctor saying that his snake must feed on live kittens, which would make it legal. Please excuse the stupid example but you can see where I'm going with this :)

I do think he should be punished as I'v already said, but I just can't see anything near the 6 months in jail and £20k fine quoted by The Sun happening.

Agreed 100%. :)

To answer the question of punishment.. if he doesn't get sent to prison or fined sufficiently, I think there are enough people out there willing to take the law into their own hands, and it may be more dangerous for him to be out of prison!

Completely true mate :) And as far as i know, a vet has to authorise it as well

Agreed, If i knew the guy he'd have had a crack in the mouth by now. Thats not a keyboard warrior thing. Its true. If i had any friends or acquaintances that did this sort of thing, they'd get a good hiding.

And yes

Innocent Animal > ******** Human

For those OMG you loves animals more than Human Beans(reading BFG:D) peoples out there

Any Animal > ******** Human

Fix'd.

However, in any case of a human being evil to an animal, I wouldnt feel any desire to harm the human because I'm not a twisted, sadistic, inhumane person.

Hasn't this **** been caught yet?

I'm thinking this as well. Apparently if he has done 3 such videos of kitten killings before, how can he not have been caught yet?

This alone is what makes me doubt that all 3 videos were done by the same person, it looks like a recurring sick trolling attempt to get a rise out of fluffy lovers.

BTW how exactly do they even know that the guy who uploaded the video is from the UK if they cant even identify or find him?

haha, You really are hilarious. Your morals are all over the place.

A guy who is cruel to animals isnt inhumane to you, Yet a guy who punches a guy for being cruel to animals is.

Quite a which came first. The chicken or the egg situation right there. :p

I dont think where he is from is certain, but most the news reports on him specificy it being likely, Due to certain things in the video.

:D lol
