Are Creative soundcards any good now with Win 7?

I had nothing but conflicts and driver woes some years ago now - but have things improved? I'm currently using onboard sound and although it's adequate the X-Fi (or Asus Xonar for that matter) were streets ahead in terms of quality. Interested to know if anything has changed.

Some people still get issues. It's the luck of the draw really. You can take a sound card giving you no end of trouble, put it in another machine, and it will run perfectly fine.

There doesn't seem to be as many threads about non working sound cards now, that there used to be. Maybe the majority just switched to onboard audio. :p

I think you'd have to be unlucky really to get a card and have problems. Any issues I have had, have been with Creative's older cards on modern OS's.

Using a XtremeMusic with windows 7 and had no issues except with the very first beta driver (that had some crackle/popping issues) worked pretty much flawlessly since.

Depends whether or not you are getting any issues with Creative's.

Some people think they help to provide better sound quality.
