So I got a letter informing me that I paid too much tax in 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 (bit of a while ago isn't it lol), and I was wondering whether you can stipulate repayment via cheque of bank, because obviously a bank transfer would be much easier.

I don't see how HMRC would know my bank account details, so is it reasonable to ring up and tell them? I'd rather not faff with a cheque, but I don't want to waste the call centres time if it's not possible.

Cheers ears!

Anyone else got Tax Rebates this week? Are yours for so long ago?

Yes, they can pay it straight into your account easily. Just give them your details

Cheers ears!

They implemented a new computer system, which checked the records from years ago and found lots of errors :p

So lots of people have been receiving demands or rebates.

Seeing how skint we are as a country, I think they should have just kept quiet and kept the money! as the rebates outweigh the demands and it's costing us another few million/billion! :D

orrr it's a cunning way to get money back into peoples pockets to spend in the economy ;)

I've had nothing but a £5800 tax bill for this year :( was an expensive day yesterday when my accountant presented me with that one
