Anyone pre-ordered a digital version not via Origin?

I've already pre-ordered via Amazon but I'm out of the country on the 16th so I won't get my code until the new year. I was hoping to continue playing over Xmas.

I think you can only get a digital version from Origin.

Just finished reading the novel Reven, what a good book to read ready for the game:)
Ill post some major spoilers to let you know what happened to Reven:

Reven married Bastilla they have a son. Canderous from KOTOR1 is the new mandalore after some battles with revan at his side. The cat jedi (cant remember her name) and the old black jedi is in the jedi order. Revan tried to remember his past and finds the home planet of the emperor. At the same time Lord Scourge (sith lord) finds the planet after being convinced by a member of the sith council to betray the emperor. Lord scourge agrees after he visits the planet after finding the horror that accured there;) They stumble across revan and take him prisoner. Lord scourge realises he could be a powerful ally to help kill the emperor. After an ally (meetra) of Revan comes to help him escape they join forces with Lord Scourge. They eventually get to face the emperor, but Lord Scourge betrays them and kills Meetra. And the emperor takes Revan prisoner after hurting him badly. Lord Scourge still wants to see the emperor dead and relys on Revans Vison that a champion will oneday come to defeat the emperor. Meanwhile Revan is imprisoned in secret facility (its a flashpoint in the game;)) Years have passed and Bastilla is old and there son (he hasnt got the force but i think hes a chancellor) has a wife and and a son and daughter who apperently have the force.

Not read the spoilers, its Revan, not Ravan... Glad its a good read though, I shall have to pick this up soon, I enjoyed Drew's Mass Effect books a fair bit :D

Jcb33.

Fine by me. I visited the planet of those dress wearing girls and all I found were fluffy critters and a temple of standing around.

At least Ord Mantell is a proper war zone to start in ;)

The jedi starting planet nearly put me off the game entirely :) You'd think after two kotor games Bioware would be able to come up with something better than a high-school teen drama, cos that was what it felt like.

:confused::confused::confused:

Thats what you boiled the starter story down to? :p

Here's the thing, those who hit 50 and raid and have;

Armourmech (Exclusively makes non force user armour)
Synthweaving ( As above, for force users)

Will become redundant, sure.. through leveling process and a little thereafter you can make money through the tradeskills but no doubt there will be an influx of generic crappy gear on the trade network.

But end game? They've already said the best gear will come from raids (I have no quarrel with this - I end game raid) but you will replace crafted gear. To the point, what about Artifice and Armstech? Just crafted that awesome Artifact quality item? Just done the first clear of an operation and replaced it? Gee that was great.

Unless, and I assume this may be the case, there are equal quality schematics gained from these encounters, which I can deal with. They went out to say very clearly "Crafted gear is second best to operation gear" but this doesn't go on to clarify if "operation schematics(if any) also = best gear".

Then I'll go on to those classes than can make mods/armour (Other than cybertech), whilst leveling in beta, I constantly found mods found on flashpoint/questing armour, better than stuff I could craft; I had a high enough synthweaving skill to make armour higher than I was, so even the best blue gear I could make was outshined by Orange-Slotted items.

As cybertech, you could pretty much stay on the ball with mod slots, always had the best blue armouring and modifications for Armour and Weapons respectively.
The slots I couldn't fill, I would remove from weapons/armor found in operations if I wanted to keep the look. The rest I bought with the commendation vendors on planets (cost 2 to 7 each) and avoid having to buy too much because I made the rest. I had something like 50+ commendations on Balmorra. Enough to buy two artifact lockboxes and all the mods I could not make or needed.

Unless I've missed something pretty essential Biochem and Cybertech are going to be the best end game crafting skills. Unfortunately, I've already set myself on Synthweaving for live and two other friends on the former skills.
When I entered Blacktalon and got my Black Talon Hunter's chest piece, other than swapping it once for a better looking item I could have essentially (up to 27 at least) never need to change it, just by keeping mod slots up to date. This totally removes the need for me to ever make a chest item for a long, long time, use a quest reward (sell it) and...yea ;| Same goes for another other Orange item you find, and I had two weapons, a helmet, a chestpiece, boots, gloves.. all modded to be better than pretty much anything. Also easier than spending time, money and pure random chance at finding a Purple Artifact recipe and then the materials to make it, and then.. because early one's can't (can they) be modded, replaced a few levels later.

Edit: And now I read http://www.darthhater.com/articles/swtor-news/19765-operations-gear-preview
Very little in the way of stuff made from armourmech (and synth?) Waist and Wrist.. well at least it's the only way to get them. :p

I think some of your fears can be settled with this (i think...)

What exactly are lockboxes.

I was staring at them for a while in the Coruscant commendation shop. Bought weapons instead.

Is it a lucky dip you throw currency at in the hope of something useful?

I need to stop watching swtor videos on YouTube it's just making it harder to wait plus I end every video with a favourite class that I have to play. I have no idea how I'm going to decide what to level first. I wasn't even considering trooper but after watching a video of a trooper with a massive killer robot companion, I now have another class that i'm desperate to play. I think I'm just going to have to roll a dice to decide which class I level first. :p

Nope that's an explanation of the modding system, the same modding system I said was pretty powerful.
But thanks ;)

pretty much!

As he said, the two Balmorra one's I bought gave two Artifact quality gear that gave +Willpower, useless for me because I was a bounty hunter.
Although it sold for 12k together and it was only beta :p

Yes and it also has a couple mentions of how crafting will stay useful at level cap. Perhaps not for your own character but for making money.

Also remember if you cant find a trooper video... look for bounty hunter videos because they are the identical dark side version.

Same for sith/jedi classes and Smuggler = Agent.

So if you can't find a video for a dark side class... look for the light side version as it has the same abilities :)

Well, I read it all and I don't see it, please quote.
Because all I see is the discussion of the MODDING CRAFTING SKILLS (aka Artifice/Cybertech/Armstech).

Nothing about Armourmech and Synthweaving, which do not make mods and if anything the only mention was
That link said:
Some crafting recipes that allowed the creation of moddable armors and weapons have been replaced with non-moddable versions. Why the nerf? Because those recipes were no longer properly balanced once we allowed mod extraction.
