I've seen a slew of people getting tax returns sent to them and I'm fairly sure I'm owed from a couple of jobs, however I've realised that I'm still on the electoral register in Bristol, as I haven't filled out the form to register myself here in Exeter.

Is it possible for me to call up the tax office and find out if anything has been sent to the old address and if so, get another sent to me at my new address?

Cheers all!

It is a legal obligation to inform the govenment of your new address, the question you are asking requires a minimal amount of common sense.
The HMRC will deal with tax and last time i checked they do not have access to the electorial roll - its two very seperate things.
Though saying that you need to make sure your addresses are updated with both and the HMRC normally do that through work tax forms or PAYE changes.

Ah I was under the impression it was down to electoral roll, admittedly it seems silly in hindsight.

I'm currently a PhD student and therefore I don't pay tax or NI, so I haven't had a means by which my details have been passed on automatically i.e. through my employers. I'll give them a call and let them know of my change in address, ta for the help.

Have you been asked to complete a tax return in the past? If so any notification will go to the address they last gave, not the address you're an registered at with the council.

If it's just tax due because of a full time job give them a ring.
