Hardly any talk on the forum about this board guys.I know about the Asrock etc and how good it was but the asus has better vrm etc?

ASUS Digital Power Design :
- Industry leading Digital 16 Phase Power Design
(12 -phase for CPU, 4 -phase for iGPU)

And is the Asus UEFI bios not a lot more stable than Asrock?

What one out of the two GEN3 boards should i go for? H80 + 2500k setup then moving to Ivy bridge.

I got a p8z68-v gen3 one with a 2500k. not overclocked yet, but it's a great forward looking board if you want the enthusiast level VRMs & voltage design without all the pointless frills. Just don't bother installing any Asus bloatware! The UEFI is fine. I don't see that much benefit over the old bios interface, but that's just me.

I'm more then happy with my Asus Z68 V/Gen3,UEFI Bios is nice and you can use a mouse, both the board and UEFI are fine for me ie no issues.

Mine is overclocked too.

Threads like this were putting a lot of people off

I saw the Asrock thread as well plus Gigabyte thread in another site ,we all know there are threads on just about every board out there if you look hard enough, end of the day you got to buy something and hope it works out for you regardless.

I've brought about 6 or 7 different brands over the years and all been solid.

I have the P8Z68-V/gen3 (non-Pro), and I think it's an excellent board.

There have been some negative threads here, although it must be said that a number of the complaints turned out in the end to be due to faulty RAM and not the board.

Overall if you check the review sites, it's my impression that these boards actually have a better complaints to good reviews ration that any other board. And it does also seem that the BIOS is better implemented, it has more power phases than similarly-priced boards, and it has some nice additional features like Asus onboard bluetooth.

Based on my experience and what I've read overall, it would be my first recommendation in this price bracket.

My answer was to the OP asking about the Asus

What have threads about Asrock or Gigabyte boards got to do with it.

Come on I made it quite clear, any thread with problems on any brand can put people off,its not unique to Asus,I thought I was clear

I will also add if you did a survey on people that have issues to people with no issues ,those with no issues would outnumber those with issues regardless of brand in question.

Was in the same position as the OP a few weeks back and was told to avoid the Asus P8Z68 boards, despite having used Asus boards in the past with no issues. In any case, I decided to listen to my gut and go with the Asus P8Z68-V/G3 (didn't need any of the extra features of the Pro version) and I'm very glad that I did. I've had zero problems with the board and have a very stable 4.6ghz overclock on my 2700K (and I'm pretty sure I can go higher with a little effort). The BIOS is also brilliant, very accessible and easy to use and as far as I can tell, there's no issue with the USB ports (at least on my board anyway).

I'm not sure what the deal is on these forums, but I checked lots of other sites and most people seem to recommend the Asus boards. I mean Asus are a pretty major motherboard manufacturer so it's not exactly suprising that you'll get quite few people posting problems on forums like this. It all comes down to the proportion of people with problems, not just the indvidual numbers.

Mentioning threads about Asrock or Gigabyte isn't going to answer the question, is it ?

Glad to hear some positive feedback on this board. Since i ordered it ive read nothing but negative comments so im starting to doubt my purchase. I guess i will find out for myself when i build over christmas.

Other than my experience in the thread linked above with USB3 controller issues that were fixed by reseating my ram it seems (not replacing it or due to RAM being faulty) i am impressed with the board compared with my old rampage 2 extreme.

I too will still stick to Asus boards after past real bad experiences with MSI and Gigabyte

Maybe because it was quite late to the party..? It might not offer enough for those who feel to need to change hardware a lot to swap what they have already..?

Perhaps the above two points might have some relevance as to why there seems to be so few threads...?

I personally will be content to run my P35 Socket 775 system until the Z77 chipset boards are out with native USB 3 already in place by Intel.

Besides I think that the blue coloured lump on the Asus board looks ugly :D

Thanks for all the replies my worries are slightly less now but im still debating as to which i want.

I think that i will choose whatever one lets me disable HPET in the bios.I have 4x4GB sticks of the ripjaws 1600mhz c8 so im hoping to god i dont get the usb issues :( It would look royally stupid also with the blue heatspreader ram in the all black case and black mobo too :( double whammy of woe!

I think the ASrock will let me disable HPET but will the Asus GEN3 3 allow me to disable it also? The older versions would let you disable it via the advanced PCH menu.

Ive spent the last week looking at what to upgrade to for my gaming platform within my budget of £400 for the board, CPU and Memory and had short listed 3 boards.
MSI Z68A-GD65-G3
ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Gen3
ASROCK Z68 extreme4 Gen3
All three boards are pretty much even with each other on performance and have good reviews all across the web and it was a hard decision deciding on which one to pick. Ive had Asus, MSI (current) and Gigabyte boards before and all have been rock solid but didn’t know anything about Asrock but considered it because it gets good reviews on this forum. After considering all options and looking at the videos of each board and specs and approved memory lists etc one board in my opinion stood above the other 3 and that was the Asus. The MSI board came a close second and is fantastic value for money but I felt the Asus ticked every box to help me upgrade my system in the future given that I tend to keep a system for about 3 to 4 years and also need to look at hard drives and PCIe 3.0 cards as the next upgrade options in the next 12 months.

Ordered it this morning :)
