This will not be a popularity thing so if you've got those ambitions then get out of my thread.

I think it's fair to say that as a community we are broken, fragmented people with few social skills and even bleaker life prospects. Many of us relate more with CPU's than GF's, and our lives revolve around things which many normal people would find hilarious or alarming.

But through it all, come NVIDIA or ATI/AMD, we stand strong. We improve. We can almost go outside without wondering about the downtime on that raid we meant to go on or worrying desperately about that latest Steam patch and how it might fix that glitch that - GOD DAMMIT! - almost made you underclock due to artifacting.

We are better people.

This thread is aimed at determining who has improved their posting contributions over the course of the year.

I will start and by God, it's a potentially board-splitting choice.

My vote goes to :

Permabanned.

 :o

Being opinionated without having the gumption to back things up has, slowly, turned into having a really strong sense of self-worth and, better, self-awareness. Even taking on the permabanned name and the sig that goes with it is no mean feat and shows a depth of self-deprecating modesty I never thought he had. I read his posts now and they're funny, informed and well structured.

So my vote for most improved poster of 2011 goes to permabanned, showing awkwardists everywhere that improvement can happen to anyone.

God speed, sir! :)

More like he's accepted that his bizarre opinions are considered to be a joke so is trying to claw back some respect on the forum, but failing miserably.

He'll get an 'award' when he enters the real world, at the moment he's nowhere near it.

Still, your way of putting it is far more subtle. Bravo. ;)

Sorry but this is driving me mad! What was his name before it was changed, i can't remember? It is somewhere in the back of my mind but i can't quite reach it

No that's never him?? suddenly memories of some strange threads and ridicule return to me, he contributes a fair bit now though and tbh you would never guess his age.

In a years time we will be reading basically the same OP but with the name Compboyo in it!

I agree with [FnG]magnolia that the poster formally known as Superewza has improved even in the short time I have been a member.....he still has his moments of unsupported nonsence and still grasps to his unobtainable socialist utopian dreams, but by and large he is learning that life is not quite as simple as he once believed and not to take it quite so seriously either......

I said some time ago, before he became Permabanned, that underneath the hyperbole and insistent adherence to childish ideas was an impressive young man....and hopefully he continues in the same vein during the next year.....

Good thread.

2011's most improved poster is this one:

A great improvement!

:D

Haha indeed :D

Britboy. No contest really. Earlier this year he posted a lot of crap. Now he doesn't / can't. Some others should follow his lead ;)

My gf always tells me I spend too much time on this forum, and yet I don't think I spend enough to notice behavioural changes in posters (other than cumulus posting non weather threads, which is certainly not an improvement). I do vaguely remember superewza ****ing me off, and don't recall the same feelings for permabanned, so presumably he has changed.

I think magnolia may have got it spot on - transformation from a nonsense poster to a somewhat engaging one, good one!

Good thread by the way OP :)

I think I may have actually got worse as a poster. Actually that's not fair, I've probably posted more rubbish, but have also posted much more opinionated things as well...

Can't really remember perma before he was perma....

I've definitely gotten worse, I just lack the motivation to engage in a proper discussion on here. Sometimes I'll write a fairly long post, but half-way through I'll just think 'Oh, bugger it' and press the back button.

And then when I do manage to actually write something semi-coherent and press 'submit reply', if someone responds then more often than not I just can't be bothered to reply.

This is probably a good thing however.

Two posters ruling themselves out of contention nice and early (and completely unsurprisingly). The tension, it's almost palpable (it's not).
