Hi, I have been looking into building a high-end gaming PC for some time and have finally decided that I'm confident enough to build one, the only problem is that I don't know what to build :)

I was hoping that somebody could spec me the best PC I can build with a £1000 budget.

Thanks,
Kahnum

What do you need included in the 1000? Monitor? OS? Mouse and keyboard? Or just the tower?

Also, do you have any Sata Hard Drives spare, they are VERY expensive at the moment.

Oops sorry forgot to mention that, need OS,keyboard and HDD, unfortunately, got a 24" monitor and mouse.

Sorry for fugly layout but I'm on a macbook pro :eek::eek:

EDIT: Sorry forgot OS. Just lose the SSD and get W7 64 bit.

But when you get some cash again, definitely get an SSD and you will really appreciate the speed then. If you get it included in a new PC spec you might just think your entire PC is really good when it is really the SSD making your OS run really quickly.

You could lower the GPU to a 560Ti to save 15 pounds, lower the PSU and save there and lower the CPU cooler to the Gelid Tranquilo = the price of Windows 7 and you get to keep the SSD. You could also spend less on the keyboard but the Microsoft Sidewinder is out of stock. I just cba re-editing the spec on this bloody mac eugh....

Wait awhile mate before you go jumping, there are people on here who are VERY good at getting the components right for you.

Stulid being one of them :)

are you sure you don't have any old sata hard disk/s you can reuse? the prices currently are insane like 3x(or more) the price they were in october before the floods.

the psu [wu]tang suggested is out of stock. if you're not planning on sli/xfire in the future then you can go for cheap motherboard and lower watt psu, that'll save you ~£40

@ iBSOD

The OEM processor only has a 1 year warranty (if that's important to the OP), isn't in stock and doesn't come supplied with a cooler.

You also say "Another 580 later for SLI if you want" but the PSU you've listed isn't suitable for that.

to add to the sli thing, the asus 580 chosen is triple slot so not suitable for sli either as the airflow will be restricted and the top card will get very hot as from what I've read the cooler dumps the hot air inside the case.

also now is not the bet time to be spending the best part of £400 oh a graphics card as new ones are due out very soon.

Fair point.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt with selecting a 3 slot wide card.

If the OP did want to use SLI the 3 slot wide card could go in the bottom PCI-E slot and a dual card slot could go in the top PCI-E slot leaving a gap in between.

But he'd probably need a bigger case for that as the bottom card would be up against the PSU.

So not a good choice really, with SLI in mind, and probably didn't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

High end gaming rig, my advice is wait and buy your HDD's when prices return to normal.

Keyboards are personal so choose which one works for you - I like Logitech wireless.

To save dosh pick a gtx 570 instead and/or use the stock cpu cooler.

Easy upgrades would be another 4gb of ram and some HDD in 2012.

Consider upgrading the case to a Fractal R3 or similar.

again spending so much on a graphics card with new cards just around the corner.

Mr Fowler I like Corsair what can I say. If you are going to recommend a restaurant do you recommend somewhere you have not been? No, you recommend one you have been too and eaten there, so to speak.

Finally, the OP says they want to build a high-end gaming PC now. By that I assume they want to build a biblically powerful gaming rig in 2011 in order to pown their gaming chums. I assume that they want to do this before Santa empties his sack, not afterwards.

the ram can't be bad if a million and 1 people on here buy it everyday, also ocuk use it in their builds.

as for the graphics card its upto the op if they can hold off a few weeks or not, if not I would say go for the 6950 or 2g 560ti now then add a 2nd once the prices come down(if the single one is struggling).

Hi again guys, just thought I'd say that with all the prices very high and new products coming out would it be more sensible for me to wait a couple of months into 2012 until I buy my PC?

It depends on your point of view.

I think postpone buying HDD for now definitely, just get an SDD, but if you fancy gaming over Christmas and NY get stuck in.

A gtx 570 or 580 or whatever card you get is going to give you tons of pleasure. Keep the box and look after it, then you can ebay it in the future and upgrade when the next thing comes along.

For sensible money there is no reason not to go i5.
