A number of sites are now releasing their goty lists, so ocukers what do you think will be your game of the year?. I was going between these three anno 2070, Battlefield 3 and Skyrim and to be honest it's going to have to be

SKYRIM :D, Massive world, awesome quests, high performance and beautiful graphics with more mods to boot

Worst game of the year

Red Orchestra 2 , not just because at first it ran so poorly but it was released badly and not one company this year has released so many roll back patches. The developers as far as i'm concerned where so stuck up and arrogant which really didn't help matters!

Ask for a vote

Probably a good idea to get some answers first.

Not to mention that a vote is kind of pointless here. We're not having a popularity of opinion contest - Neil is asking for everyone's opinion, with reasons.

Best for me would probably be Dungeon Defenders. Really novel game, though sadly now ruined by patches.

Worst has to be Dead Island. Lots of cool ideas, huge amounts of issues that made it unplayable.

Skyrim is GOTY for me. I can't really think of the worst game as I've been smart and only bought games I knew I'd enjoy.

I DID try the DNF demo however, so I guess I'll choose that for worst game of the year.

Best: Skyrim, what else? Possibly Portal 2.

BF3 should get a mention too, had a rocky launch but it seems to be picking up stability.

Worst: Rage? The game its self might be good, but nearly 2 months later its still unplayable for some. Have to agree about RO2, the developers touted it as a viable alternative to BF3/MW3, it simply didn't even come close :(

Yep!, anyhoo carry on people :D

Up until a couple of weeks ago my game of the year would probably have been Portal 2 but then Skyrim came along.

Fable 3 was the worst game of the year for me. Everything felt extremely simplified with the whole thing suffering from a bad case of consolitis. It was also poorly optimised to boot.

Worst:mw3

This made me think of this :

Worst of year duke nukem, large margin.. they've had so many years to get it right with a loyal fanbase and still didn't deliver

Plenty of good games, nothing groundbreaking (imo) though
Thats not to say bf3 or skyrm aren't great titles, just as somebody thats been around a while I feel developers are experiencing a bit of a "writers block" on the groundbreaking side of things

Going on a limb saying it but I honestly feel that way about it

Best for me would be Skyrim.

Sometimes games come along that are good enough to get you into genre's you previously didn't enjoy/hadn't tried, but even rarer than this are games so good that your enjoyment of them is contained entirely within that one game. Skyrim (and Oblivion before it) is exactly that for me. I don't care about orcs, elves, mages, basically 90% of Skyrim I don't care about anywhere else. There's just something about the way these Elder Scrolls games are put together, Oblivion and Skyrim are easily two of my best gaming experiences of the last few years.

As for worst, the only reason I can pick one is because I played DNF. I'm normally pretty careful when it comes to picking the games I buy, unfortunately curiosity got the better of me.

best = skyrim by a country mile awesome game  also i played oblivion and i actually installed and threw it in the bin so to me that alone is a massive jump . with how poor fps is i may take up games like this and leave the fps to console ports

worst = bf3 for all the hype and then they basically give you a pretty console game  my hat goes off to ea and dice though for trolling the pc crowd so well right upto the last minute .

Best; Batman: Arkham City

Despite a few bugs, this game is so complete in terms of playability, its nearing on perfect. Voice acting, story, exploration, side quests, everything is just spot on. Loving it so much, I will probably play through again as soon as I have finished it.

Game of the year is pretty close between Skyrim, Portal 2 and Minecraft (yeah yeah) but I think in terms of the amount of enjoyment I have got out of the game Skyrim has to win it...just, with Portal 2 a close second then Minecraft. Also a special mention for Deus Ex, although it wasn't as good as the original it was certainly a worthy successor to the title so Eidos deserve some recognition for that.
Other great titles that need to me mentioned, Terraria, Magicka, Dirt3, Capsized, Bulletstorm, SS3 and Sonic Generations all games I have had a lot of fun playing this year.

Worst game of the year...hmm was very disappointed by Crysis 2, MW3 was the same old **** again, I didn't get DNF after the poor demo and very poor reviews. So all of those three I guess but if I had to pick one it would be Crysis 2, that game still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth **** you Crytek, sellouts.

He's not asking for reasons.

My choice for GOTY is probably Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I quite like FPS games with RPG elements, and enjoy the Deus Ex universe. Much like Invisible War, the fact it isn't as good as Deus Ex doesn't prevent it from being a good game. It has a reasonable plot/story and quests that fit in well with the setting.

Worst game of the year for me is Brink, just feels like a really crap version of UT3 to me. To be fair, I haven't played it much, in terms of games that I've actually completed, Duke Nukem Forever is probably the worst, although I am slightly swayed by the fact I'd been looking forward to it for so long (since the 90s).
