Looking at moving out of Watford and maybe to Hemel. For a little bit more than I pay now for rent I can go from a small 2 bed flat to a 3 bed semi detached house with garden, driveway and garage. I know Hemel has decent areas as well as poor ones, just wondering which the following location comes under.

Thanks.

I live in Hatfield ( :( ) used to work quite a bit in Hemel, AFAIK that area is not too bad, there are some dodgy estates north of the St Albans Rd. TBH I recon most of Hemel is better than most of Watford.

Yeah that's what I keep thinking, a lot of Watford can be rough though to be fair, where I am now is pretty decent. Just you seem to get a lot more for your money in Hemel and for the sake of being an extra 10 minutes from work it seems worth it till I buy.

I know that area.

Lets put it this way, as you summed it up best.

there are nice areas, and bad areas.

this is one of the latter

I would live as far out as possible. I live between Hemel and Watford so know what I'm on about! Have you tried somewhere like Abbots Langley?

Yes we are looking at Abbots as well as Rickmansworth. Just trying to find the right place to go to really.

biggest issue with hemel is its before the m25 split so traffic can be a nightmare on the M1 . I used to stay in Dunstable and if i was ever held up it would be at J8 . I used the a5 most of the time .

Hemel aint a bad place . The town can be abit rough but its deff better than watford

You do?! I been meanign to go to Watford to visiting a friend for a while now, could drop by and give you a hug :p

Mixed reports then.

I don't trust the agency marketing the house, seem to be online only and haven't returned my call or email.

Found something in Apsley though, what's that like?

i live in hemel, boxmoor really. best area of the town.

every town has good and bad parts to be honest. i have lived here for years with no trouble.

if you are keen on hemel look into boxmoor..old town..leverstock green. they are the nicest places in the town.

Apsley is pretty good..handy for the train station if you commute. The high street in Apsley can get very busy during rush hour times mind.

have you looked at boxmoor?

I'd go for Boxmoor over Apsley, any day.

And yeh Raymond give us a shout when you're next in the area :)

OK thanks, I'd be leaving for work around 0700 so I imagine I'd miss most of the traffic?

Not looked yet, I am looking in all sorts of areas in Herts.

Northwood, at the camp. Girlfriend currently works in Watford center.

Need to get out of this poxy small flat and into a house with a garden for the dog hence we're looking at moving.

More than likely won't be buying till 2014/15 so renting is the only option at the moment.

Still quite a bit of traffic at 7 in the area mate, apsley is ok but as mentioned a nightmare for high street traffic.

Quite a few herts people on here, we should arrange a meet!

:)
