Hi,

Ever since I first played it I've been a fan of KOTOR and with SWTOR coming up I suspect i may end up playing through KOTOR again (and KOTOR2 if I can).

However I've read lots on the internet about people having issues running these games under Win7.
Is this just the small minority being more vocal (why would you post about a game working after all?) or is there little chance they'll be at all stable?

If Win7 doesn't work, which OS are they most stable on?
I might be able to dig out an old machine running Win2000 or I'd have to look into installing WinXP and dual booting my PC.

Could I install WinXP onto a USB2 external HDD? Then set my boot priority to boot from that drive when I want to load up WinXP? Would the performance bit hit too badly running an OS off a USB2 drive?

Thanks.

Don't think I had any problems with my disc copy of KOTOR in terms of general running. Just make sure you get the latest patch (if you don't buy on Steam).

The only problem I had was the native resolutions for the game don't include widescreen but there are options for that, just Google it.

Works for me on Windows 7 64 bit, but it does crash randomly. I'd recommend saving frequently.

This is what I'm worried about. this would/will annoy me.
I mean it wasn't 100% stable when I last played it on an XP system, but it tended to crash during loading screens, which I think auto saved just prior most of the time.

On the topic of Kotor, I remember quite awhile back there was a mod in development for ages to restore content and new stuff on Sith Lords. I can't for the life of me remember the correct name nor the fan sites. I came across file hosts for mods but can't find anything.

Can anyone remember it

Edit again ^^: Found more up to date link which I think is the main forum for it http://deadlystream.com/forum/forum/4-tslrcm/, newer version and its still being updated which is suprising, making version 1.8. Think a re run for Kotor after Skyrim is in order, like for 15th odd time lol

Under win7 KOTOR1 required me to remove a bunch of the cutscenes to make the game not die, also had to fix a few other files

XP is the best option im afraid for no hassle
