This is the version that was aired in America on ABC

This was the non edited version.

What do you think? Do you think they distorted the interview to make Syrian leader look worse?

I think the changes they made to the video (and I mean the exclusion of certain comments rather than the image inserts) had the effect of making the Syrian leader look worse. I'm not sure if that was intentional but it would not at all surprise me if it was.

You only have to look at the Metro today about Clegg & Cameron. Yesterday papers report Clegg thought it was probably best not to attend and make himself a target/distraction. Today the Metro saying 'he refused' to attend. Headlines always crack me up - sensationalist crap half the time.

You are aware that the News Media in the US (and probably here too) have no obligation to undertake factual reporting, right?

So they are at liberty to present/distort/manipulate any story into suiting a particular angle.

Don't believe me? Watch the movie "The Corporation" or similar for more info.

I believe it was Fox News which pushed this and ended up in court several times over it. They eventually won, the 'win' being that news reporting does not have to have any factual basis at all; or to put it more simply, they could intentionally lie and pass it as fact.

So this takes it a step further than the guy I quoted who indicated they could angle a story to fit an agenda. Nope. They can just make the story's 'facts' fit their agenda.

It was a 2003 ruling IIRC.
