Hmm, i did see that but thought it only had the wrong ones, also it appears to be free delivery in the basket but says £2.99 on all orders under £35, confusing.

Just google the line . . . .

They are using the diodes just to drop the voltage, its easier than trying to work outthe correct value of resistor, maybe it needs too high a wattage to work correctly.

Personally I would use 0.5w 3.3v Zener diode to clip the voltage.

Actually i have some other diodes that look like the ones you posted above, i don't know what they are though, i have a diode setting on my multimeter, never tested them though, what do i need to know?

I mean how to check the ones i've got, a few look like the ones you posted and others like the 1N4001, they all say like 580 when i do the test?

Im not sure if that enough info to go on when dealing with diodes though.

They all look like that, you could test the clipped voltage in a small circuit. Hardly worth the effort.
