Its hilarious though, Wake was always the brightest map in any BF and now in this one its the darkest - WTF?!? Where as all the other BF3 maps are like playing on the Sun. - I just dont understand their logic.
 
I doubt it compboyo, what they could do (will probably effect all maps) is make weapons/tanks do less damage to structures so it will take longer for the to fall.

I remember the beta/day1 moaning about the lack od destruction and now its to OTT? :p

I do like the aspect of full destruction I just want it to take a little longer which I think over time it will, buildings are getting destroyed far more quickly at the moment due to players not being used to the map so they just spam buildings with tank shells and hope for the best!

mmm they said theyd make b2k maps more destrubtle...I still think bf3 vanilla maps destruction is quite low/moderate.

but today playing b2k Buildings were falling to pieces with 1 hit of the tank..1 tansk shot woudl blow the whole wall off.

Maybe due to fans complaints they done this, now the fans complain to much lmao.

Im 50/50. I mean I love doing destruction. It feels good and it adds more dynaimc feel to the games. BUt on the other hand I like how say on COD or old bf maps you know the layout, were to hide, were people hide, were big spam fights occur etc..etc..snper spots...Plus I like the actual design and environment of the maps.

But if you think about it 90% time spent on map is spend on a ruined war torn landscape. So the actual layout and designof the map only accounts for 10% of the actual game time at most.

Really the way the maps should be advertised is in a destrcuted state lol.
 
I think destrcution is better for rush because you do an area, play it for 5-15mins then move on to next area. Maybe little destruciton, maybe 0 destrcution in between points.

Whereas on conquest the whole map is played for the whole game obviously.
 
right but no one ever uses soflam

I used it tirelessly last night on UKCS, however, as soon as I planted it, someone would destroy it with tankusually....how do they see it, which bit of kit is it they use ? Also I am sure I read somewhere that it locks on without me having to control it via the handheld, is this correct, cos using soflam doesn't exactly reward you with points but if I could plant it and leave it while I go off sniping....that would be more beneficial.

On another note, calm down on the RPG/smaw guys, seems like every **** and his dog had them on last night. In the end I became a foot soldier, rather than a tank driver, much safer.
Even had a quick drive round in a bobcat type digger for a minute...till some spoon sniped me through the screen :(

I just thought about that myself :p It looks like the destruction has been designed for rush gameplay and not balanced for conquest.

readng the description on battlelog it seems that you plant it and then it stays and you can leave it. I dont know how many thigns you can mark at once or only 1?

I didnt even know it could be destoryed nor what it looks like?

YOU can mark land as well as vehicles or only vehicles?

Then a guy with a javelin or stinger? Can use your planted soflam target to aim at and fire?

But its recon with the soflam? Need to work as a team really
 
Forget soflam, 3rd seat in the tank is the way to go. Soflam has a redish sort of reflection so people with good eyes can see it. Also after a few months the good spots for soflam are already know to many so they are easier to find.
 
My biggest issue with the new maps is the Frostbite engine. At the start of the round, the buildings are all whole, cover is fairly easy, and movement is smooth. After a couple of minutes every building is leveled, you think you are in cover behind something, but the wall lying diagonally has a hole by your waist, and you have to constantly jump to get from one place to another.

I don't mind some destruction, but when it means most maps look the same by the end of the round, it is a bit silly.

Apart from that, had a couple of brilliant rounds last night, and I seemed to get way more points on Karkand and Oman than I have ever done on any of the BF3 maps :confused:.

There is no way DICE can keep everyone happy - first they tone down destruction with the Stock Maps and everyone cries, then they up the destruction for the map pack and still getting loads of complaints....

The 3rd seat in a tank is an unlock, it can laser designate for tank guided missles. If you have a person in the 3rd seat, your tank is unstoppable against other tank...near enough :D

Step 1. 3rd Person Laser Designate
Step 2. Driver switches to guided missle, locks and fires
Step 3: Driver switches to main cannon and fires
Step 4: Driver fires main cannon again
Step 5: Game Over

Easy to spot. It's a great big red light house beacon to the opposition. I find it takes quite a few shots to take it out with a tank though :(
 
In multiplayer, the CITV Station is a specialization that acts as a third "Commander" seat in tanks.[1][2] The player can enter a tank already occupied by two teammates (the regular seating limit). He benefits from the tank's mobility and armor, and can assist the crew with day and thermal optics and laser designation, but is not provided a weapon.

Other players cannot use the CITV until they have unlocked it. The unlock is a permanent upgrade, therefore it is constantly on during combat, similar to a fourth upgrade

SOFLAM can be used with any aimed projectile including the 3rd seat of a tank, look ast combryos 2nd video

your suposed to be able to fire without a lock aswell , it works for stingers , javelin , 3rd seat of a tank , heli/plane guided missiles.

but people are generally to retarded and carry on using the guns in jets/planes when they could just pop a laser guided missile and be done with it
 
i call BS

even with a soflam you wont kill anything other than a heli/jeep in one hit with the javeling and the stinger is pure garbage

Nah they have upped the javelin damage from memory. A javelin hitting from above to a tank will disable it in one hit and fully destroy it if it wasn't at 100%.

I have taken down quite a few heli's with one hit from a javelin now but unsure if they were already damaged before I hit.
