WOuld you say its normal to carry a knife?

So I bumped into an old freind from school and when out he showed me his knife he carried for protection. Fair enough he had been in jail for selling drugs and not long out so not really a ''normal'' representitive of society.

But would you find it weird or odd for a person to carry a knife about with them?

I mean its a tough dodgy place out there anyway.

Well exaclty I was brought up on a council estate and I carried a fishermans knife most days from age 12-14/15 until I left. I got jumped and threatened with knifes a few times. It was kinda normal. QUite a lot of gusy got stabbed in my old area especially when they got to late teens.

And if I didnt have my knife Id carry my keys in my hands as a weapon in some areas at certain times.

I didnt plan to use my knife but I had guys after me and Other gusy my age all had tools as well. It was kinda the norm tbh

I have always lived in very middle class areas of Surrey so have never felt the need to carry a knife with me!

No it's not normal, I'd tell the person that they're an idiot. It's a stupid argument when people say they carry knives for protection from knives - get rid of the knife, and go to self defence classes if you're that concerned.

No it's not normal at all. There may be a use for one in a work environment but then I would expect it to be carried off site in a tool kit.

Im long out of that and as an adult I dunno what to think because as a kid/teen Id carry a weapon and knew people who did. But now Im like well its a bit not right?

obviously to another extreme but in brazil and compton and jamacia and africa etc...dudes walk about with guns every day. Even some parts of london and liverpool so it would seem. Many areas of glasgow gusy carry knifes everyday also.
