Hey guys, getting a Mobo for my i5 2500k this month.
Out of all the chip-sets for this CPU, which is the best or more suitable for gaming and over clocking. Integrated graphics won be used.

Well, I'll put a shout in for the Asus P8Z68 gen3 boards since they get little love on here otherwise :)

If you go that route, worth asking if you need the pro version, which as far as I can remember only brings slightly better onboard audio, a couple more SATA ports and firewire. I didn't really need any of these, so went with the non-pro version (although I must admit I am now a bit concerned that I only have one SATA port left free...)

Thanks for the opinions fellas.

I will probably end up going for the AsRock, mainly because it looks nice and has good features, but also because i don't feel like getting another asus board tbh.
Not that theirs anything wrong with them, its just that its good to try other brands some times.

Cheers.

let me just cement the notion of asrock's...just got the asrock Z68 gen3.....banged hardware together...got used to new bios....then enabled auto overclock and went for 4.8ghz....just finished 24 hours prime test...passed....no bios update required and im using 16gb's of ram.
Usually its a few weeks before I can get a clock like that stable lol. I love it. And I, like you will :-) succumbed to the endorsements about it on this forum. Using Same chip too!

Thanks mate, made up my mind. :D

what's with all the asrock loving going on lately? They always used to be the most cheapo nasty last resort type of brand from what i can remember. Just get an asus board :)

Had Asus boards in the past and would have bought Asus Z68 board.. but after reading a review of the Asrock board on Vortez it pretty much sold me on the Asrock board...

All boards will have their quirks and annoyances... Not found any that bug me on the Asrock board (so far)
