i stopped reading when i read this bit:

. Arguably the next most important piece is the power supply: we need to ensure it can handle the juice the computer requires. You can get a 750 watt PSU for £24.96.

IGN is rubbish.

I still find myself looking at their site for general game news as I like the layout, but I never believe a word they say.

The articles are just stupid, and some of the stuff they come up with like "Top 10 yadda yadda" are woeful.

I still think the 'PC is cheaper for gaming argument' is based on console games costing £40 when the fact is, pretty much all console games drop to below £20 within a few months as shown by listing the top sellers on the usual game sites. I'm not saying they are cheaper or as cheap as PC games but unless you were buying 5-6 every month, then the difference isn't going to be much.

Every single assumption in that article is wrong - about both PCs and consoles. It's amazing just how bad a job they've done.

you can build a pc that performs the same as an ebox for bugger all even most cheap laptops can run games at the same res as the xbox does with as good graphics.. (720p @ 30fps requires barely anything, some mobile phones can probaly come close :P )

arguing console vs pc is never going to work though as its highly dependant on the person and what they want to spend.

you could be a pc gamer for 400 quid easy and still have better graphics than teh xbox but in pc terms they wouldnt be that good compared to someone whos building a fairly high end pc for around 800

I've got PC + PS3 + Xbox 360. The consoles cost peanuts for gaming. PS3 cost £200 2.5 years ago. The xbox £159 1 year ago. The last game I bought was Motorstorm apocalypse for £12.49. Other recent purchases are Assassins Creed brotherhood for £9-something. LA Noire for £22 (bought at the wrong time really, dropped since) Alan Wake was about £11-something and Forza 3 was about £7 I think. PS3 Sports Champions was £10. Those were all brand new, 4 being bought from the high-street. Today I see Deus ex: HR for £10 (already got free on PC) and GT5 for £9.97 (already own).

I buy all of my PC games from the Steam sale so I don't spend much there either. So as you can see, unless I was buying a handfull of games every month, the difference isn't much.
