I had similar to that, my pad sits on top of the tower unit and **** me did I jump when all I heard was brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :D

Took me a while to realise what was going on.
 
to the ones using gamepads- are they a disadvantage to m/kb set up? (must add- if youre competent or play with both)
I've just returned to pc gaming and find myself all over the place with the mouse!
so was thinking of trying a xbox controller instead.
I use a logitech g5 mouse but it doesnt seem smooth to aim at all.
 
Okay bf3 came out a while ago, i installed played all on ultra it was fine!

Got fed up with the rubbish maps so uninstalled.

Back to Karkand came out i wanted to feel if it has the bf2 nostalgia, reinstalled today.

Installed amd cat 11:12 with latest caps, i go into game try wake island and im getting really bad stutter/lag/pauses when im playing on auto detect graphics setting.

So i think ahh okay maybe VRAM so i turn down the resolution from 1920 too 1680.

Still same problem, then i think what the hell i used to be able to play on this fine.... at settings higher than this.

So then i drop everything down to medium, it is slightly better but im still getting mega freezes now and then especially when flying jet/helicopter... its unplayable.

Try Low and everything works much better. i mean come on has back to karkand really made it that more demanding? my specs are as follows.

i7 2600k @ 4.6ghz
ati 5850 in crossfire
4 gig corsair xms3 ram @ 1600
xfx 750w powersupply
asrock extreme4 z68 motherboard
windows 7 64bit.

Now taskbar only thing running is microsoft security essentials.
lucid virtue which ive disabled
catalyst cc

also this has been installed on a recently reformatted windows.

Any ideas
 
You could disable desktop composition, it clawed back a few FPS for me. With V-sync on it gets me constant 60fps, but on maps where it drops it used to go down to around 35, but now the lowest i see it is around 50ish.

only use pad for helis mate.

Rage uninstalling might just be for people who think the game is *****. I don't see strength or weakness having anything to do with it. Thinking the game is ***** is just as valid as any other opinion.

Someone help before I go ma, bought back to karkand and battlelog is show fodder_10 now has it WOOO

But when I try to play it say I need it and redirects me to buy it
