Same OC with new MOBO?

Hi guys,

I have just sent my mobo back for replacement as it was faulty.

When I fit the new mobo will I have to start the overclock process all over again or will the same settings from the last mobo work? The mobo will be exactly the same make and model.

I suppose the question really is: Is an overclock unique to a CPU/mobo pairing, or just to a CPU?

Thanks in advance.

I went from a P8P67 Pro to P8Z68-V Pro and this cpu performed exactly the same so you shouldn't notice any differences at all.

small tweaks to NB / SB voltage might be required e.g. I copied someone's settings exactly for my P5N-D to get 3.6ghz but it was no where near stable, increasing VCore did nothing except generate heat, once I worked out that it was the NB that needed upping more (and a fan strapping to it) everything was fine and actually I could lower VCore more than the other guy

your CPU should be fine on the same settings on a different board (vcore, multiplier etc.)

Thanks guys.

Yep, I made a note of the settings.

So all should be fine, that is good to hear. Didn't really fancy another 5 days of testing!

It is pretty obvious.

The error comes up as soon as you power on and says:

"USB Over Current Status Detected, Computer will shut down in 15 seconds"

It then shuts down in 15 seconds!

cheers, I thought you were using a monitoring software or something.
