Android - male dominated?

I know a lot of men and women that like and dislike the 4.3" phone size, I don't personally see a problem with it, but they do.

So to make blanket statements like that is just silly. TV's aren't even close to a fair comparison, surely you understand that.

I think that 4" is the maximum Apple would ever take the iPhone (and they should make it 4"), it's perfectly big enough and not too small.

For a matter of fact, it was my girlfriend that stated that they didn't seem to be available in colours other than black or white.

Some girls do, some girls don't. No big issue really.

I think the iPhone has a pretty good female-friendly (and male I suppose) solution going with the Black/White and then different coloured bumpers.

Because women don't like to be seen as nerds and Android phones have that stigma attached to them.

The point of the thread was to ascertain why the Android user base was male dominated, maybe if I'd have said "Some Girls" then people wouldn't have been so quick to start flying with the insults.

This was meant to be a serious discussion, not a poo flinging exercise.

You 'can' root and play around with Android but then you 'can' jailbreak and play around with iOS devices.

Both devices 'just work', which one does better, is a matter of opinion

As I said, the reason(s) for that could be -

Android phones are seen as nerdy, a lot of women don't like that
The iPhone is seen as 'cool' or certainly more normal between them and their friends
They may actually just prefer the size/design/apps on the iPhone and have made an informed decision about it, instead of basing it on name and looks

I don't think it has much to do with colour, though I'm sure it is a factor for a fairly small % of women.

I personally don't have much time for these people that judge people based on what phone they have, it's rather pathetic. However, I doubt that people actually behave like that in real life, it's just an internet thing.

Outside of my friends and collegues I've probably seen more females with a SGS2 (usually in white) than men.

Most females seem to have BB's though then iPhones after that.

Public perception. Also, another common public perception is that the iPhone is the best phone and nothing else comes close.

All android versions pre-Foryo were a bit crap, and the stigma lingers on.
Your average user wouldn't realise the massive difference between Donut and ICS.

If we take the galaxy nexus for instant and the whole of the front is the visable usable display do you we think that's big enough. Who's to decide ? . The tv comment is relevant on the basis that over time peoples perception changes. Phones will get bigger screens but there will be a point that its decided where it becomes a tablet. As for Apple I agree they won't go much bigger screen wise, because I find them anal like that. Give me choice is my boggle with Apple and that's all.
