So Tube Drivers now earn £50k a year?

Quick question.... Do they even drive the trains these days? I've heard the computers do all or most of the work.

And please tell me what warrants such a high income? What do bus drivers earn|?

Striking should be illegal IMO, especially in the public sector. Don't like your conditions? Well get another ******* job then.

Jeez what an attitude you'll be having children in workhouse next.

Try reading a few of dickens novels.

The 1% of the population that are rich are there because they break the back of millions of others. You'd see that gap widened.

Just hope for your sake you are either too young to understand the consequences of what you are saying or are rich enough not to care.

Here's a refreshing idea instead of trying to reduce the pay of others why not try and increase your own salary.

??? How is any of that even vaguely related to anything he wrote in that quote?

It is about time the government bought laws in to stop nonsense like this, people have the right to strike but what is happening here is them holding the government to ransom over their ridiculous demands

On the modern ones no. I believe they literally just press a button to open/close the doors at the platforms.

Although their greater value comes when something goes wrong/there is an emergency.

However, the DLR has been driverless for years so I don't see why the rest of the tube network can't be....

So much jealousy. If the tube drivers aren't worth it then presumably everyone will be happy with no tube on Boxing Day. What's the problem?

The problem is they keep striking even though their working conditions are very good. That's what ****** people off. No one would care what they earnt if they just got on with their jobs.

Sooner or later they will no doubt hand the job over to systems and hire people to just keep watch. When they happens a lot of these drivers will be let go.

I for one will have no sympathy for them. Every year they want to hold the city to ransom

You could use the same arguement if they were striking for 1 million a year, thus demonstrating what a ridiculous one it is.

50K a year, higher than 80% of I.T jobs out there.

even some Java, C++ coders don't get that ammount of money.

time to move from Desk Job to Tube Driver!

Why shouldn't someone such as a tube driver who has huge responsibility, (peoples lives) earn more than someone who sits on his arse all day tapping away at a keyboard?
