got my asus xonar dx need help!

I see that in playback devices,which is the correct one to select?

If you are just using the desktop speakers that connect to your dx with the 3.5mm jack, then you should select "Speakers", not the "S/PDIF pass-through".

reason I ask is I wanted to test the 5.1 digital and tried dead space1 on the audio options menu and selected 5.1 test all speakers,but its like 5.1 isn't active!!

If you click on the SPDIF pass through and select properties and go to the levels tab what options do you have?

Did you configure the speakers as 5.1 under windows and set your audio channel in the xonar control panel to 6?

It's very hard to see the picture, but I think you've already set the default device as SPDIF, ASUS Xonar DX Audio Device? If so then it's the correct one. Click "Configure" just to make sure it's set to 5.1 mode.

EDIT: Also make sure in the Xonar control panel that you've set it to 5.1, it might be in Speakers mode.

all is good now,had a few teething problems! surround is working fully it seems.
