Windows 8 Apps Can be Remotely Removed by Microsoft

Author of that article is a scare mongering idiot. It's an understandable feature. The title of the article being my main issue.

No, it is a non issue, as said the other app stores have this functionality and it makes perfect sense.
They find an app that his breaching security and they can remove it and not rely on word of mouth,

Pretty much. I thought it was all programs, but its just stuff that is bought at their store. Thats fine. I would hate for microsoft to have access to that hidden folder where I store literature . . . . :p

Tin foil hat time though guyz!

Look at all the idiots responses to the article on there, people panicing and blowing it out of proportion, it's as if everyone has read the title of the article, ignored the article itself and jumped straight to the comments bit. :/

Eurgh i hate stupid people.

If you've bought a program legitimately from them, what reason would they have for remotely deleting it?

Yep, it's only app store apps, not even software advertised on the app store.

They are also doing silent updates on IE, unless you have automatic updates turned off or opt out.
Most exploits are on older versions of IE and so this is another brilliant security feature.
People need to rethink computing. Gone are the days of manually installing stuff and configuring,
It's now user friendly and that's a darn good thing.
And as more and more is done only such security details are important.

Ummm, really?

If there is a problem with the application, for example a security leak. These type of things happen quite often and are removed / fixed without issue.

Sounds like awesome news, pretty much +1 to everything Glaucus said lol.

I'm certainly a fan of having most of my software automatically updated, and any security flaws removed.
