1GB or 2GB GPU

Fair enough, but as I just said in my last post, this is comparing 1 and 2GB for the 6950 as well, only.

And as I said, the 2GB helps for the less powerful cards like the 560TI and as I also said, if people are going SLI, then 2GB cards are better.

It's not really anything to do with 'less powerful cards'

1GB is not sufficient for Ultra settings @>= 1080p on Nvidia, whether SLI or single card, you start swapping to memory and performance sucks. If a GTX580 had 1GB it would suck at BF3 Ultra as the same issue would happen.

The 560ti 448, 570 and 580 do better because they have more memory. 2GB is probably overkill but due to memory chip densities for the 560Ti it's 1 GB or 2GB. 1.5GB on an 560Ti would be fine...

Yes, but there is a 1 and 2GB 6950 and in the first chart, there is virtually no difference between them and even in the second chart, there is only 5FPS for min FPS difference between the 1 and 2GB.

As i said this is Type 2) situation and the the GPU grunt can be the larger of the 2 issues on specific cards when both limitations are in play.

On Eyefinity, Vram can make loads of difference or none at all because the GPU is the biggest issue more often than not so even when there is some Vram bottleneck there is no impact because the GPU cant render fast enough to get in front the System ram to Vram refresh. But the same game on a lower res 2560x1600 the GPU is less likely be the bottleneck and the difference of Vram can have a more noticeable difference because the GPU can get in front of the System ram to Vram refresh.

There isn't that much more RAM on the new 560TI compared to the old 560TI 1GB, yet it still has far more impressive results purely down to it just being a better card, not solely because it has slightly more VRAM.

I also think 1.5 would be fine.

Right, there is no point discussing this any further as we are never going to agree :p

I am well aware that if you want to apply loads of AA, play at a res higher than 1200, SLI/crossfire, 3D or whatever then 2GB is diff beneficial.

HOWEVER at a res of 1200/1080 it isn't unless you have slightly less powerful cards like the 560TI and I am sure the 6870 would also benefit if you could get 2GB models, but when it comes to the more powerful cards as I have said and IMO, there is going to be very little difference in FPS and is not worth sacrificing a 1280MB GPU e.g. the 560TI 448 for a 560TI 2GB, as I have seen some people recommending here in the last few months instead of the more powerful/better card......

Also a 580 1GB would still kick every other cards ass IMO.

Thank god, the next gen cards will all be 2GB+, no more arguing/discussing about 1GB VS 2GB for 1080 :p

The GTX 560Ti 448 should be 10% faster than the GTX560Ti 384based on cuda units x clock frequency. It's much faster due to more memory, as is the GTX570.

Nvidia stipulated that the benchmarks had to be done at ultra and no 2GB 560 could be included to make theGTX560 Ti 448 look better so the truely stupid would buy it.

Anyway I tested on Capsian Border 64 player fully loaded ultra and got a better FPS with the 2GB 560Ti than they did on the same map with a GTX560Ti 448 or GTX570......

Why ... Nvidia set the rules and the message.

The 560Ti is a good card which can be made to look poor by stupidly high settings. That's what Nvidia wanted to sell you more expensive cards.

The GTX560Ti 448 is a killer for them, failed GTX570 chips for nearly the same price.... awesome.

They want you to buy a GTX 560Ti 448, GTX570 or GTX 580 ..... hence the skewed benchmark results.

Edit ...

Just to add, a 900Mhz GTX560Ti should have the same performance as a stock GTX560Ti 448.... this is in line with the 560Ti matching GTX570 performance with a >950Mhz OC

:)

Indeed we will move on to 2GB VS 3GB :D. ok very unlikely.

Ha Ha, wait till I get the proof.....googling right now!

But I'm telling you, my black pcb's faster!:D

Oh no, forgot all about the yellow one!
