Stupid Manufacturer Designs

My passenger window will not go up with one press, drivers side will though!

I don't know of any cars that do, It's a safety feature, I think

Talking about headlights, on the 206, I pretty much have to remove the front grill to change a buld, the front grill holds the lights in place it is possible to get your hand behind the light to change a bulb, but its just easier to remove the grill and remove the light, plus you don't slice your hands up

The mind numbingly stupid position of the air temp sensor for the climate control in the E39 and, staggeringly, the F10 5 Series.
I have the opposite problem in the Ibiza. The cupholder is directly in front of the air vent, so if I have a cold drink with the heating on, it becomes pretty warm pretty quickly. Not to mention that the cupholder itself is cheap, plastic-y and currently broken.

Then there's the rear washer linkage which has about 10 different separation links. Which is a great idea, if there's a blockage in the tube then it'll disconnect pretty close to the blockage. Except that Seat routed this tube through pretty much the most impossible places to get to in the engine. One link needs the airbox out, another one needs the front wing taken off...

Mk3 Mondeo springs to mind :)

206 bulbs are incredibly easy

Is it the CC? could be that or could be because mine has an aftermarket front grill lol the lights sit just behind the grill instead of on top of it, so they don't move at all lol

Worst one I've seen by a mile has to be in my dads MX5.

The centre section has a compartment with a sliding lid about 1cm short than a credit card, so you can fit a card in there but it won't lay flat. If you put a card in there and shut the lid, the hook on the lock grabs onto the card and it's stuck. You then have to choose between dismantling the interior and destroying your cards pulling them out with pliers :D

This is highly annoying in my wifes MX5 can't seem to use that compartment for anything as once you close the sliding lid its trapped forever :(

Also if its been raining and open the drivers door water drips straight down onto the middle of the drivers seat

Changing the bulbs on the S60 is particularly difficult if you don't have small hands getting that stupid clip back in place can take forever. The sidelights are also a right pain which require removal of several items in order to gain enough access.

Daz

Changing head light bulb of a Astra 'H'. Had to change the bulb on my partners, you have to remove a panel under the wheel arch. Then you have the same chance of getting old bulb out new build in as a blind man.

The whole subframe has to come down to do the gearbox.

Most cars are like that now, some even have to have the subframe and steering rack removed for menial jobs like alternators or other bits hidden at the back of the engine. Most of the subframes don't have locating lugs as well so once you have done the job there is a good chance you have thrown all the suspension geometry out for a added bonus.

Mondeo wishbone bolts that don't clear the engine, meaning you have to remove the engine to replace the wishbones. NICE ONE FORD! (you actually just cut the bolts off and put them back in upside down...)

MX-5 rear light clusters - you have to remove the entire thing to get to the bulbs, there is no hatch. Why?!

Loads of bits like that in many cars though I suppose :)

It is directly behind the cupholder. Put a hot drink in the cupholder and all the temp sensor reads is hot air from the drink. It then pumps cold air into the cabin. I popped through the McDonalds drivethru last night, stuck the coke in the cupholder and within about 40 seconds the climate control was blasting out roasting hot air.

Sigh.

You'd think they'd have learned. The E60 didnt do it as the cupholders were in the dash rather than the centre console, but they are back in the centre console in the F10.. right in the same place once again.

Proper cracked me up reading that!

The Ibiza is the same, the cluster is held in with one big thumbscrew.

In the colt the seat is pretty stupid, if you tilt forward to let a rear passenger in then it has to go way far back to lock so your passenger is going to need to be a dwarf.
The 300zx has an annoying thing with the wipers, you can't wipe once, minimum is 2 wipes and whenever you turn the switch to off it does another wipe. This is irritating. Oh, the indicator stalk it annoying too, at some steering wheel positions the stalk won't latch on, the stalk itself is also crappy
