Anyone feel that Charity shops are becoming too expensive?

I don't read much, and when I do it's on the iPad, but yes I suppose they are good for that!

They were a good source of board games when I was younger too, though they never had instructions... :D

Yeah and never ever buy a jigsaw from a charity shop :)

See above post before you start blubbering.

So how do you know they have crap in them, if you wouldn't be seen dead in them.

They are properly run now, they have people employed staff higher up hence why prices have probably gone up and they will only take stuff that is almost mint condition and its mainly people that work on the tills/shop floor and drivers that are the volunteers.

My growing collection of biology related books all comes from the local charity shops.

My thinking was, why not sell the stuff cheap, and get through loads of it. Rather than sell it high and have it sat on the shelves for ages

The dead comment was just a jovial remark to see what responses it got.

Even if they are better run now, there's nothing in them that I would want to buy, what do you buy from there?

I did a few weeks in a charity shop (Cancer Research) and I noticed the manager priced pretty much everything to what she thought it was worth, a lot of the time pricing more than the actual item was worth. They had to hit a certain target in sales per month.

I wouldn't be seen dead in a charity shop.

I love your one liner provocative responses. Do you do it for a attention?

Hell I love them. Got an American style motobike helmet plus googles for a fiver from one last xmas which was an ideal pressie for the father in law.

I wouldn't be seen dead in a charity shop either. If I was a zombie the charity shop would be the last place I'm shuffling around in.

Of course I go in, sometimes I take stuff into the shops, they are well run and well kept, they are just like any other high street store.
