OcUK Rolling Road Day 12.5 @ PowerStation (Tewksbury) - December 17th 2011

Dunno why I associate fish eye with skateboard kids. Bit too wide for car shots for me.
Don't think the pictures would work well in photography either, if I'm honest...

Becuase typically we look forward to the pics when we miss an RR day. It's great to see everyones cars etc. This time the collection of pics are... to be honest if you don't 'get' why some of us are confused as to why you've taken pics like that I suppose you never will.

I'm sure that sort of thing works well in photography but in Motors simple pics of cars work much better :p

Fair enough. Kindly just not look at my photos in the future and don't bother commenting.

He isn't the only one voicing that opinion in this thread, although he is being himself as per usual and not letting go :p

I was hoping someone would have got a really nice usable snap of my engine bay but never mind! I'll clean it up a bit better for the next RR day and hopefully someone will snap it then :)

Great turnout considering, the weather held off for us too although it started to get pretty cold towards the end. A lot of people (including me) satisfied with their results which is great :)

What's the story with the V6 estate by the way? As I was delayed I missed it so only got a fraction of the story...

Not entirely sure whose it was but the story I heard, as retold by Andy (Scubascorpion):

The guy who bought it was told it was a 230bhp engine (Motorsports Developments tuned 2.6 Vectra V6).

Now to get 230bhp from this engine would most likely need forced induction or a very heavily rebuilt/bespoke naturally aspirated setup, probably on throttle bodies and standalone management, dry sump etc, at not inconsiderable cost, so for such an engine to end up in a bodykitted, angel eyed Vectra estate would seem somewhat unusual, but I digress...

Anyway, when plonked on dyno.. it made 2bhp less than a bog standard 2.5 Vauxhall engine (170bhp). Cue much unhappiness and furrowing of brow from the owner. The engine bay was definitely the most lary looking of all the cars in attendance though!

Hurts my head to look at those fisheye photos, jesus whats the need?

As for the cars, cupra looks ace. Elise looks totally bonkers. Whos is the vaux with the orange engine bay?

This was the graph showing my previous Dyno results.

The lower lines show the result from the RR day earlier in the year (July?) with the stage 2 mountune setup - 194bhp/151lb ft.

The higher line is the run at Powerstation I had on 25th November, having added the new inlet manifold, throttle body and a different map that makes up the stage 3 kit - 201bhp/157lb ft.

Todays dyno showed 194.4bhp and 147lb/ft.

Now todays results were different from the run on the 25th, not sure where or how I have lost power and torque over less than a month, given nothing at all has been touched/changed on the car in terms of either hardware or software, and I have used the same fuel for both runs .

Could be a number of factors but possibly a leak somewhere?

Your tyre pressures will also make a difference to things - what are the wheel and drag power figures like for the three runs?

Well pleased with my figures, now running spot on and the drive-ability compared to the Exige is totally different.

That's mine :)

I'm just looking at the data trace now - between 3.5k and 4.5k I'm running too rich, which is sapping torque by the looks of the power graph. I'll take out some fuel in those regions and see how I get on.

I can't believe some people are moaning about the photos!
Is this just because it's shoes and his "previous"?
Christ. If you were that desperate to see the cars on the dyno, you should have turned up, Not berate people for taking the time to upload a few pics out of their own free time.

+1

OK the fish eye look is not preferred but I am still glad he posted up the photos and took time to take them and his time to upload them, otherwise we'd not have many photos to look at from this meet.

Andy makes a good point, if you really wanted to see the cars, then you should have come. :D

I found out today that 'the bloke that works at Powerstation' was Scubascorpion.
Hurrrrr. How many times have I been there now? I just thought you were one of the staff.

Woops.
