AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 960T Black Edition "95W Edition" 3.00GHz (Socket AM3) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-315-AM

Ok, so I'm looking to buy this processor for a machine im going to build after christmas.

However, I'm a noob to all this stuff. (As you can tell by my username)

What I'm confused about is about where it saids this in the specs list:

"- Integrated Dual-Channel Memory Controller with up to DDR3-1333 support"

Does this mean it can't support this RAM: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-203-CS ?

Which is 1600mhz.

Please help or tell me if im completely wrong about this or whatever ;P

I'm probably going to look back on this thread in a few months and be like "Wow, Aidan, you really were stupid back then."

I also apologise in advance if this thread has been posted in the wrong section :)

Thanks.

That RAM will work fine, it'll just run at a lower speed than it's rated at. If you check the reviews on the product page, one reviewer mentions becuase he's using that RAM at slower speeds in an AMD system he was able to lower the latency.

rubbish, that chip will happily support DDR3 1600, My Phenom II X4 955 has used XMS3 1600 C7 just fine for ages, you just have to go and enter the timings manually in Bios :)

If It doesn't it's down to the ram not being able to do it and not the AMD.
I run 1600 C7 with 4 sticks on my AMD.

+1

I had 1600mhz C7 RAM happily running on my 965 too. I think AMD states 1333mhz as it was the highest official JEDEC standard back then.
