Who's got Virgin Media's TiVo?

One thing I object to is that they charge an extra £100 for an extra half G of hard drive. Must be about £20 worth of extra space.

lots of people complained about the sa boxes being slow, not sure why you think they werent lol

Npbecuase I have one and a Samsung box. They are slow in the sense they hang and crash, when they are working they browse through the listings fine, they just hang lots and crash at least a couple of times a week.

you havent read my post then:p I said most of the boxes were slow and just to counter, mine hardly ever crashed. perhaps 'most' is a tad over the top but its still the prevailing issue other anything else.byou can take a look on the virgin forums and see for yourself just how many people complained about slow boxes. you having one that worked as fast as your samsung is, fortunately for you, the exception to the rule.

but hey it's irrelevant anyway, the tivo box is vastly better and like many people i'm glad to see the back of the old v+ boxes. Sure the tivo isnt perfect but its a great platform with which virgin can improve on. bring on the 15.3 update and the fixed SD picture quality :)

But when people say slow, do they mean slow or the numerous hang ups.
It's a terriable box regardless.

Would love to give TiVo a try, but out of contract and don't wont to sign up to another 12 months.

Just got my Tivo installed - seems fine so far, quite chuffed as it was free and I got another 5 pound off my bill per month to cover the Tivo charge and we got the V+ box stuck upstairs so the Mrs recordings are all there for her.

Whats Youtube and that like through it? Worth it or a pain?

HD picture seems sharper, SD im not sure on some channels ive tried.. is that the consensus or do I need to tweak something?

Edit - and yeah we used to have that old giant V+ box but I moaned how bad it was and they gave us a Samsung which is a lot better.

Got ours last weekend. Enjoying recording 3 things at once. Mrs is constantly recording films so keeps her busy. Menus are bit dodgy and gaining access to 3D channels is just poo to be honest. I hope there will be an update for this.

On a side note do you have to pay for OD? (on demand). As im sure some of the stuff i wanted to play was free yet it said i have to subscribe?

I can't remember to be honest but i'm sure that when i tried it (a few months ago) that it just brought up a VM intro screen and then never did anything beyond that. Not giving me a screen to enter any details in or anything

I've had the Tivo for 1 month now and absolutely hate the damn thing.

For a start it won't even detect my Panny 50" as supporting 1080p

To be honest I cannot be bothered typing out everything that's bad about the box but everything that can be bad, is bad.

I'm calling Virgin tomorrow, they can have it back.
