Windscreen crack and insurance cover

My screen cracked today due to the cold so I need a new one.
I have windscreen cover with my insurance but I have a Climate Comfort screen fitted on my car from the factory. Will Autoglass or whoever give me a genuine BMW Climet Comfort screen or will it be some aftermarket junk that won't fit properly?

You will get a Climate Comfort Windscreen but not neccesarily a BMW one.

I had Mobile Windscreens last time, who were able to source me a BMW screen.

AFAIK you can request a BMW logo screen (the difference between an "official" screen and not, is often just the stamps). I requested an OEM screen when mine was replaced as I was selling it shortly after.

I just checked my policy. I have to use their fitters and take glass that is equivalent rather than OEM.
If I use a fitter that isn't theirs, they will only pay £100 minus my £65 windscreen excess (so, £35).

Oh well, I'll give it a shot and if the glass is poo I'll just pay to have proper glass installed.

Awful bunch, you don't gain ncb for a year you claim for a screen in with them either.

Meh. I have 9 years anyway.
They were cheap. For a reason I guess. Normally I would do some proper research in to insurance but I was kinda busy in the summer when my stupidly priced (£1900) renewal came through from Direct Line so I just chucked the details in a comparison site and went with what came back.

I just called them. Seems like it's Autoglass coming to replace the screen tomorrow. Went through the spec of the screen on the phone so we shall see what happens.

At least one person will have had an issue with each firm.

Let's use Paradigm logic to say avoid getting a new screen at all costs.

I had Autoglass come to my workplace to fit a new windscreen to my ZS180 and couldn't be happier. The fitter explained the possible issues he might have with trim etc. but did the work very carefully and made a perfect job (even though it's a worthless old shed really). I gave him a tenner and we both left happy.

However, I'm sure that with any of these large chains you get the occasional primate who shouldn't be allowed near a car.

It's not my first fault with Autoglass, just by and a way the largest.

They have been inept every time they've had to do a windscreen on any of my cars, and the more complex the job, the more they mess up.

EDIT: IMO it's no different to warding people off using QwikFit, the same quality of outfit, with the same level of "training".

I know of 5 windscreens being fitted by them, all 100% fine. Like Fox says, every company will have its issues so lets not ever use any company ever and starve to death?

All the insurance backed windscreen fitting companies are pretty much the same.

Lets all drive around with cracked windscreens.

I've had two screens fitted by Autoglass. One to an almost new Suzuki Swift Sport with no issue, and one to my CTR where a small piece of rubber windscreen surround popped out (and only needed a gentle encouraging back in).

Having the windscreen replaced on my wife's Leon Cupra on Wednesday too, and again by Autoglass. Hopefully they do as good a job as the last two times.
