Not sure if it's any different for cars, but I will be tracking my old bike from now on. What will I need for a perm solution in terms of tax, insurance and MOT?

I can get track day insurance with my current people so that's resolved, but I have yet to get a quote.

Does the bike have to be SORN or taxed?

Thanks

As above. If its going to be used on the road it will need all the usual road going stuff. But if its going to be used just on a track, then it just needs to be working. No need for tax or insurance or MOT. Most track days just ask that your vehicle is maintained to an MOT-able standard (they don't want it falling apart half way round).

Track day insurance is entirely up to you. It will be 1st party (your car/bike) only, and usually carries a high excess. I haven't bothered as the excess on my quotes was almost as much, if not more, than the value of the car. However, on a Bike, I don't know if/how personal injury would be covered? You might wish to take it out on those grounds?

Surely it will need to be SORN? it is a road going capable vehicle after all.

This was my thought, all that will changed is the following:

Mirrors off
Front headlights out
Rear lights out
Numberplate/mount off
Indicators removed
And finally my fibreglass track fairings on

So all of the above remove any possability for it to be on the road however it is capable with the above fitted?

SORN it. No insurance, or MOT. Trailer it to the track. Store it off the public road. Get Trackday insurance of you want it. Have fun.
