ARC sound on Sammy TV

Hi people, I'm pretty much a noob with AV stuff so hope this is easy to understand.

I have a Samsung UE37D5520 LED tv, I can't find any concrete info if this TV supports ARC [Audio Return channel] via HDMI.

I Just got an ONKYO 5.1 system but can't get any sound using HDMI and ARC setup.

HDMI cable connected to HDMI out on the amp and HDMI input 4 on TV.

The AV receiver is clearly communicating with the TV ok, I can turn the volume up/down on the TV remote and it shows the volume going up/down on the AV receiver LED panel.

Been through all the settings, everything is set-up ok it seems, HDMI, ARC etc..

Speakers work fine when switching to FM radio on the amp, so the speakers are ok.
 
If your TV has ARC then it should be clearly labelled- near the HDMI, in the manual and possible inside in sound menu's. However a quick Google seems to success that it doesn't have it.
 
as above, the HDMI port on the tv has the words ARC above it. If it doesnt then its not ARC proof.
I doubt the ARC would be the 4th HDMI channel either as its normally one of the first 2 but I could be wrong there.
 
OK guys thanks a lot, clearly it doesn't then. I ended using optical and everything is OK now, thanks for your help :)

If you don't mind, Id be interested to hear what you have to say about your TV. I'm just about to buy the same sammy and would appreciate your thoughts? The only downside I've read online is that it somethimes takes a long time to change channels, is this true?

I Am very happy with it. Had it since june this year. Channel hopping is a bit sluggish but nothing you won't get used to. I would happily buy another.
