Well not really, I am building a PC for my sister just now which when I come back I will be getting back as she will be getting a laptop. I will be using it pretty much to play the new Star Wars MMO.

Just now, it is running;

939 Mobo
3800x2
7800GTX
1.5GB Ram

Couple of hard drives too, is there any way I can make it run this without costing me a fortune?

Will also be using it as a HTPC.

I think the mobo is too old really, youre going to struggle to upgrade the CPU to anything decent, youd also need more RAM, might be better with a cheap new build

Some of the load time delays I've seen from people on flashpoints has made me want to weep. I've finished conversations before they have loaded them. Without hitting the space bar.

My first old 939 was IDE only iirc and that coupled with an ageing (ie mid 00's) IDE drive made using it feel like it was sucking data through a straw.

My later 939 board with an x2 processor had sata sockets and was better, but was never a particularly stable beast. Again with SWTOR I'm seeing people complaining of crashes. I've yet to have a single crash, but trying to play it on such a machine, yeah you are going to be looking at that queue screen a lot.

I just dont think you will ever get SWOTR running satisfactory on a 939 based machine. Lets face it, it doesnt meet the games advertised minimum specs.

You can buy a core2, 2gb ddr2 and a 775 mobo for £40 on fleabay.

Thanks guys, yeah the board has SATA.

So if I had say £500, what would I be looking at? Pretty decent spec, I could keep the case to tide me over untill I want/need a better one.

So really. Mobo, RAM, CPU, GFX is all I need.

Is £500 good enough to run a pretty decent gaming machine?
