I live in an area that is even planned for a fibre upgrade so am just using O2 / Be There LLU. I get about 10Mb/s downloads so not too bad.

However my discount for being a mobile customer was lost when I swapped to T Mobile recently and the price is quite high. I am thinking of moving to Sky - just for broadband and telephone (we are not interested in TV).

Anyone any experiences with SKy - is it a reliable network?

Works great for me too. Don't accept Sky connect (or whatever they call the BT Wholesale rebadged version).

Yep, very happy with Sky here - I used to get about 18 meg on o2 and apparently Sky only have me at 16 meg (although I can request it being upgraded and let them know if I have any stability issues!) but I seem to get similar download speeds anyway so I'm not bothered!

Plus you can use Sky anytime plus which is a nice bonus!

*edit* just seen you are not bothered about Sky TV but you should know there is a fiver a month off if you do have even their basic TV pack!

I'm happy with Sky BB with LLU.

Been considering getting line rental for the phone... are there still problems of BB speeds dropping when Sky switch users over to SVBN?

Very happy with Sky Unlimited here. Make sure it's LLU though. Connect is garbage and should be actively avoided.

*Edit* I'm on SVBN and if anything get a faster speed now than i did before.

Skys Good however its not very fast. if all you want to do is normal day to day use of the internet your'll be fine. however if you are thinking of gaming or downloading then you might be better with a faster isp. Im supposed to achieve an 8meg connection (upto 20) they say. but i go from a max of 6 to a min of 3 depending on the weather (dont know how it affects the wires but it does) I am really considering going to virgin as i will get atleast 20Meg with them? but sky is very cheap aslong as you have the phone with them

If you get a slow speed then it could be down to your line length/quality rather than Sky's network. I've Been on the full 20mbit for 2 years and get 2MB/s transfer speed no matter what time of day. Pings are 8-10ms higher than fastpath adsl but meh, it's the price you pay for cheap but awesome broadband.

I get a rock solid 2.5Mbps on my Sky (up to) 20Mbps connection. Ok it's not fast but it's never let me down yet. Absolutely brilliant, unlike VM that was unreliable and hopeless with some sites (vimeo & Youtube spring to mind) but maybe it's a location lottery..

I had Sky broadband for a couple of years 4 years ago. I hated them and there Rubbish customer service which was based in Pakistan. Not sure if they have changed much since then? I went to 02 who's customer service was almost to good as they wouldn't stop bothering you untill any little problem was resolved. Now im with BT as was promised Fibre Optics soon but it's been delayed 3 times now....

I get 1.4mbps on mine & I echo what Mrchops says here, Virgin were terrible for me.
