Mission Impossible - Buying a 32gb MP3 player from a physical shop (not online).

Hi all, my current player (60GB Creative Zen) just died so I thought I'd pop along to Currys/Comet etc to by a 32gb replacement for my 30gb of music and you'd have thought I'd just asked for the Moon on a stick!

Oh yes they'll happily sell you a £200+ Apple Pod but every other normal MP3 player is 2, 4 or 8gb or even rarely 16gb but no-one (and I mean high street shops) sells 32gb players! I even though outside the box for players with SD slots (but they're limited to 16GB max), Internet Tablets and even a cheap phone (size isn't important, it's just for my drum practice) but I don't want to spend more than £100.

Can anyone help with suggestions? It's got to be a physical shop (I'm not getting any post until the 9th Jan when our mail room reopens) and it must be between Inverness and Aberdeen.

you can get 32GB micro SDHC cards. if you can find a sansa clip+/clip zip then you're laughing. they have upto 8GB onboard for a total of 40GB. online you'd be looking at paying around 65-70 sheets for those 2 items. i'd imagine local prices would be much higher.

do you know anybody else you can get it sent to if you order online? even paying express delivery charges from amazon would be worth it.

Have you checked out the Sony MP3 players? Argos might be worth a look if buying online isn't an option. That said you will pay over the odds in a shop.
 
The Sansa ones are looking promising (although the with a memory card they're pushing £100).

Kindle isn't enough memory, Sony is £150+ for 32GB and there's no 2nd hand shops/Cash Converters near me for electrical stuff. Most of the lads from work have gone south for Xmas and I don't really know any of the married guys well enough to ask one to help now we've stopped work for xmas.

It's 3 weeks before we start work again and I'm stuck up here working so if I can't get my drumming sorted I'll go a bit more daft in the head!

sansa clip is £30 then add a sd card . dunno where yer getting £100 in fact they were on offer with 8gb + 16gb for 32 quid or so .
 
Reminds me when I went to similar store for an Ipad 2, none in stock yet had 4 on display to play with, so they ordered one in, went to the store on the day they said to come in, not there.

Absolute joke these retail stores, so demanded someone delivered it to my address.
 
Can you not speak to the local postoffice and just arrange for it to be delivered straight to them and then you can pick it up? PO Box maybe?

And for those people suggesting the Clip, can you connect it to the car? Wife also has an house stereo that has an ipod doc on top, do you know if it's possible to get an adapter for the Clip to be able to use it with ipod connectors?

surely you can just make do with the 8GB player for a few weeks and then get yourself the microSDHC card online after christmas?
 
If it is for drum practice can you not just use a laptop and wait until the 9th for Sansa clip off the rainforest place?
