Hi All

You will be pleased to know that I have now secured our karting booking for Saturday 10th March :D
The race starts at 2PM, but we need to get there for 1PM for the drivers briefing.

IMPORTANT: The remaining balance of £57 must be transferred to me by Friday 17th February.

Race/Venue details:

Rye House Kart Raceway
Hoddesdon
Hertfordshire
EN11 0EH
www.rye-house.co.uk

Race Format - Grand Prix Racing -
£77 for 1 hour
This consists of 15 minutes qualifying, 5 minutes grid start and 40 minutes non-stop racing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

THE PLAN:

We need to be at the venue by 1PM for the drivers briefing, so I would suggest we meet at the Rye House pub beforehand. Please note - you MUST attend the drivers briefing, otherwise you will NOT be allowed to race.

11:30AM - Meet at the Rye House pub (same entrance as the karting place, you cannot miss it :p)
Some of us will be getting lunch here, but if you would prefer to arrive a bit later then by all means get there a bit later at 12.30PM or something :)
We are thinking of pre-ordering lunch to save time - lunch thread can be found here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18378432

IMPORTANT: - ANY PERSONS DEEMED TO HAVE CONSUMED ALCOHOL 12 HOURS PRIOR TO THEIR EVENT WILL BE EXCLUDED FROM DRIVING WITH NO REFUND.

1:00PM - Arrive on time at the Karting centre for the drivers briefing
2:00PM - Race!!
3:00PM - Finish + trophy presentation

After the race, I guess we can do the usual stuff at motor meets - passenger rides, social chit chats, some hooning? ;)
A few people have suggested doing something in the late afternoon/evening as well to make a day out of this meet. I will have a look around for some venues but feel free to provide suggestions/recommendations :)

I would be up for it but I'm off to the ring in April and also doing Spa so I wouldn't be able to justify the cost till after I've been there.

I've been there before and its great but I've got to say, if you do the whole 45mins straight, your arms will be killing you by the time you have finished.

I've only done indoor karting before but that was the first thought that popped into my head

Your first 15 minutes are the qualifying part.

30 minute stints are perfectly possible for those who regularly go karting but if you find it tricky then 15 minute stints won't lose you that much time in the pits if you're switched on with driver changes.

EDIT: Didn't actually read the Grand Prix bit. Yes, the people at the front are going to be murdered towards the end of the race if they are putting in competitive lap times. 40 minutes "on it" in a kart is tough.

That track looks awesome. I've been a few times to one which is basically just an oval with 2 wiggles on each straight. Still fun but no where near as good as that looks.
Possibly in depending on how much money i can save up till then :)

Turns out that this is not all that far away from a client of mine in radlett... depending on times this could be a two birds, one stone mission.

Does look like fun though!
