Train eviction video: 'Big Man' is not prosecuted

What would he be charged with? He never dodged the fare, as he got chucked off? Nothing to charge him with really.

Not saying its right, but I don't see how he can be charged.

Edit - Too quick to post before posting. I suppose he could get charged, but I doubt he will such a trival thing to be charged with.

Ridiculous, he removed him without trying to hurt him. I know vigilante justice can't be endorsed, but you can certainly look the other way

However, The Herald has learned the video was shot following an earlier incident – not shown on YouTube – in which Mr Main allegedly attempted to trip the conductor by putting his leg in the aisle.

Phew, I'm not going mad after all.

The law does not have anything to do with what is right or wrong, the job of the justice system is to enforce the law. He broke the law and should be charged even if what he did was morally OK.

Well if they can't charge with fare evasion there's plenty else to consider:

Rail Byelaws said:
6. Unacceptable behaviour
(1) No person shall use any threatening, abusive, obscene or offensive language
on the railway.
(2) No person shall behave in a disorderly, indecent or offensive manner on the
railway.
(3) No person shall write, draw, paint or fix anything on the railway.
(4) No person shall soil any part of the railway.
(5) No person shall damage or detach any part of the railway.
(6) No person shall spit on the railway.
(7) No person shall drop litter or leave waste on the railway.
(8) No person shall molest or wilfully interfere with the comfort or convenience of
any person on the railway

Quite bloody right that he should be charged as well. I would sue the living daylights out of someone who was a lot bigger than me thinking they had the right to lay hands upon my person.

When the teen tried to get back on the train "big man" slammed him on the ground pretty hard by the looks of it.

Put yourself in teen's shoes. You are being told to get off, as far as you know it's damn unfair, then some guy comes along and chucks you out violently.

The "big man" should get done for assault.

The teen should get done for verbal abuse of the staff.

meh he did what he thought was right but if i was the kid (be it id have been less abusive and more explanatory) and he'd thrown me off id be suing the hell outta him

The guy should be getting a good citizens award :(

This crap is why nobody stands up for what's right any-more, the law sides with the criminals...

Surely the law dictates what is wrong?

No, society does. There are lots of things in the law that are different from societies opinions on what is right and wrong. I can imagine that quite a large majority of people in this country disagree with the 2005 Terrorism act for example.
Law is just a list of rules, not necessarily to decide what is right and wrong, but to protect everyone from anyone.

When situations like this happen it reminds me why I have no faith in anything.

Everyone knew it was going to end up like this though, I hope the person that decided to film it and make an issue out of it is proud...

Agreed big man was an utter tard. Who then got far to physical when the lad tried to get back on the train for his bag which was then flung out after with all his diabetic supplies.

It was the train conductors job not the big hard man that he thinks he is. They should both be charged. The conductor should get a warning for letting it get out of hand and the ticket operator who caused it all should be slapped and told to pay attention.
