*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Slightly annoyed now, I am only in work for 2 days for the rest of the month due to holidays and I would have liked to of started this but can't find a single hard copy anywhere and the digital version is still "sold out" :(

Madness, as it is digital why don't they just generate more product keys?

I see some people are struggling to get a copy, I should have a spare on my doormat when I get in tonight so watch out on the MM (ordered from Zavvi for a mate).

Shows how popular the game is if it's sold out everywhere.

If EA/BW had backed that up with a smoother launch and better customer service they would be laughing.

On another note got my jedi to 27 now, thinking of just doing class quests and skipping Tatoonie as I almost out level it already. The JK class story is amazing, really enjoying it and the story in general is just great! Just got jiggy with my padawan as well earning more Dark Side points that I meant too :p

Thing is though bioware PUT me on that server (and our guild) so we put a lot of time into our chars over early access - only now to be royally (____) when trying to get back into the game.

Why oh why force so many guilds onto that server. FAIL!

Most of the queueing issue is not caused by Bioware putting too many guilds on each server, but instead by too many guilds not going with Bioware said and all jumping on the same server.

Tomb of Freedon Nadd is a good example, had a decent amount of small guilds placed on it by Bioware then lots of huge Spanish, Italian and British guilds all pilled on and claiming it as their own. Result is massive queues.

People saying they've put a lot of time in their char is just laughable. How many hours have you actually put in? 20? 30? This is nothing for a character in a MMO, that's my opinion anyway :o

Fancy levelling my character back up for me if I re roll?

Didn't think so.

Can anyone give a quick review of the game in comparison to other MMOs? It's stupidly expensive for some reason on top of making you pay each month, so I'm wanting to know if this is justified at all. Will this last as an MMO? Is it worth buying?

Only thing making it worse re-rolling is playing through the same character story again.

Makes me slightly annoyed that all AC's have the same story as their mainline (example: Sentinel and Guardian have the same Jedi Knight story) as it reduces re-playability slightly. I wanted to do a Guardian as well as a sentinel and whilst I enjoy the story a lot the same story might get a little tiring.

For me it is nowhere near as polished as WoW (which lets face it IS the main competition/comparisson) it has graphical issues, numerous UI issues, sound issues, guild issues and other personal points of annoyance which I won't go into.

Despite this I think the game is fantastic! The stories, the crew skills, the companions, the difficulty, the grouping aspect and other things are all unique and give the game an edge on all others. All the issues that I have labelled have been pretty much acknowledged by BW, which is a good start as they are not blindly claiming to be putting out a perfect product, and they have stated that these issues will all be sorted over the near future patches. Additionally the issues are annoyances rather than gamebreakers, there is nothing inherently wrong with the game (IMO) which makes it unplayable.

Lastabillity? I haven't seen endgame yet. They have gimped world pvp by instancing which is a shame. There is only 1 or 2 operations (essentially raids) and a few higher level flashpoints. However with there being 8 unique stories to the game that is a massive amount of replayabilty just there. BW have also said there will be "regular" content updates though it remains to be seen what "regular" amounts to. Personally I think the fact that it is so story driven will jar with an endgame grind and I will find it interesting to see how this pans out.

Overall its a fantastic game and well worth buying, it will be in the market for a long time to come and has potential to be a great game if developed right!
