Friend has just had a head on car crash.

glad to hear everyone ok,
had a few scrapes in my time, but never a head on crash.
it must shake you up a bit (understatement ;))

Well that's two less insignias on the road

Well they do say every cloud has a silver lining......

Glad you're ok, I've had where I've been mid gear change and sneezed, and I've had no choice but to 'unleash the fury' over the inside of the windscreen. It's snot nice, believe me.:o

A sneeze, really? come on people.

I must have sneezed hundreds of times driving and never come close to losing control. The A140 must have mutiple hairpin corners, dense fog and black ice.

Glad everyone is okay.

And lets be honest here, no one actually believes BJ that he had a head on because of it. He knows very well it wasn't a sneezing incident that caused him to drift into the lane of on-comming traffic.

Regardless I do not blame him for sticking to his story, and he's doing a good job at even convincing himself. I know I would be doing the same in all honesty. Even your own insurance tells you to never admit liability and try and blag your way out of it. We all make mistakes, I know I did some dumb things behind the wheel in my younger days. This example is perfect to learn from your mistakes. Glad he's ok. VERY glad the other party minding his own business driving home isn't in intensive care or a morgue, due to the 'sneezing'

If anything, hopefully other young easily distracted drivers will read this, and the next time they want to go looking for whatever they dropped in the footwell, or go searching for something in the glove compartment, or browse the phone to see if that bird from the other night has emailed him back yet, they'll think back of this thread, and hopefully sit back to think, you know what, when behind the wheel, i'm giving it my full 100% attention, whatever it is, it can wait cos it aint worth dying for. Take it from BJ, he'll never make that mistake again, and he knows he got off lightly.

What a load of tosh, seriously. I've had a couple of near misses due to sneezing myself so it is easily possible. How you've managed to come up with the accusation of him not paying attention even though he's already said it's been proved he wasn't on the phone is beyond me..and the other possible scenarios are you just clutching at straws as you have no basis or proof to go on with your theory.

The more important thing here is that no life was lost or any major injuries sustained, not your trolling.

As I said before, leave this thread. He WAS NOT on the phone, as the police know (checked timestamps on the phone). He sneezed, which caused him to lose control for a period of time long enough to drift into the path of an oncoming car. If you are not going to be mature enough to actually read the thread and understand that yes, it may come as a shock, but you are wrong, then don't bother with unnecessary and pointless comments with no other purpose but to troll.

Next time, act your age.

Exactly. Some people just can't admit they are wrong. As for saying Ben is convincing himself, how hypocritical is that statement in this context. How immature of them.

You mean he was texting away? or not paying attention by some other activity, that he shouldn't have been doing whilst driving. The sneezing excuse is the oldest excuse in the book..

Anyway good news he didnt kill anyone.

ecxactly what I thought, maybe I'm too sinical

they only proved he wasnt on the 'phone' they didnt prove he wasnt on the phone, i.e writing a text, surfing t'web, reading texts, looking at music etc. not that Im saying thats what caused it, just that I personally thought that.

No, they proved he wasn't on either phone at all.

People need to stop making assumptions and pay attention to facts.

OK, so that looks like the 'on phone' vs 'not on phone' debate is cleared up!

I just want to ask for proof that it is possible to go fast enough to have an accident on the A140 at Swainsthorpe, regardless of how many nosegasms are taking place?

Pleased to hear you were not hurt :)

heard it on the radio last night and was glad I don't have to travel that way home, I bet the traffic was pretty slow for a good while.

Feel the sneeze brewing - Get planning!

I hate when i need to sneeze on the motorway it can be frightening and always slow down just incase.

Anyone who cannot sneeze and maintain full control of their vehicle needs to surrender their license - Now.

You spend more time looking away from the road when doing a shoulder check for a lane change than you do sneezing.

You do not lose control of your arm muscles when sneezing to a degree that sends you into another lane unless you are being a numpty and not focusing.

Sneeze Crash...total bull.

I understand how they can prove he wasn't making a call or sending a text etc, but how do they prove he wasn't scrolling through the menu or similar?

I'm not accusing your mate of being on the phone, I'm prepared to believe sneezing caused the accident, just interested to know how the police can prove he wasn't using his phone at all. :)
