HeY all

Better start by saying I know i5 is that kickarse gaming cpu atm and yes i was aiming at getting one.
Now I see that ppl have realised that the fx bulldozer chips aren't as they were hoping, the prices have started to plummet...FAST. Where as I get a i5([email protected]) and gen3 Z68 board would be the best set up. a 990fx AMD chipset would be about £70 cheaper. I know the 2500k is and alwasys will be better then the AMD but realisitcally surelly the AMD Overclockered a little will be more then enough for gaminig now and into the future as even BF3 and MF3 havent even utelised 4 cores yet.

it doesn't have to be a gen3 mb, sin chase what p67 mb do ocuk do that's cheaper than the z68ap-d3?

i2500k £168
gigabyte z68ap-d3 £85
Kingston hyperx genesis grey 8gb £30
gelid tranquilo £26

what else do you need?

Z68 really comes into their own when coupled with SSD's due to the caching feature they have. If you don't have a SSD or you not thinking of buying one any time soon then go with the cheaper P67 ones.

£40 more... if you budget correctly. You get a future proof socket and board.

If it was £100 of a saving. I'd say go for it. However... buy cheap... buy twice :D

I still don't understand this apparent cheaper p67 comment, there is a very cheap z68(gigabyte z68ap-d3) @£80-£85 already and don't see any p67 board cheaper than that unless you buy from elsewhere(ocuk sure as hell don't have any cheaper p67 boards).
