Well according to the lunatic PC brigade anyway.

PUNDIT Alan Hansen caused a storm last night by using the word 'coloured' as he debated the Luis Suarez race row on Match of the Day.

Hansen, 56, said there wasn't a racism problem in English football as "there's a lot of coloured players in all the major teams". Twitter users were shocked.

Ex-Kop player Stan Collymore said: "What colour would that be? Blue? Green? Orange?"

Obviously, Alan Hansen is not racist and meant no offence by a term which MANY people, especially older people use, and indeed use out of fear of offending 'ethnic minorities' by using other terms such as black or Asian.

Isn't it time we kicked this PC nonsense into touch and stopped walking on eggshells out of fear of offending the muppet PC brigade?

BTW Merry Christmas all :D

This is getting out of hand now. This is all about perception and how it's received by the individual. Those that make it an issue are surely discriminating themselves. That said, Hanson should know by now you can't make these kind of comments in the public domain and expect to get away with it whether it's exceptable or not.

That clearly is not racism.

People like Stan Collymore are making it worse than what it is by trying to act like they are offended to get more attention. Pathetic.

Isn't it time television hosts and pundits stopped using racist terminology? It's 2011 and he's still using terms like "coloured"?

There is nothing offensive about that - it's a description, just as you would describe a blond person or a short person.

Problem is, we've bent over backwards so much to the PC brigade, we now stand accused of being racist for describing the the appearance of a coloured, black, asian, chinese person.

The only issue here is the people being described as such having a huge chip on their shoulder and making a mountain out of a molehill. In the process they are causing a race issue that was not there in the first place.
